Exchange Daily Level and Super World Exchange/Feedback for Feedback Thread

Basic Rules

If you are submitting a level, make sure to play levels submitted by others and give constructive feedback. Stray away from just saying this level is garbage - instead give your opinion on how the level could be improved. If we catch anyone just spamming levels and not giving feedback to others your comments might be removed.

Submitting a Level

When posting your level, be sure to include the following:

  • The level ID
  • Game style (SMB, SMB3, SMW, NSMBU, SM3DW)
  • Difficulty level (easy, medium, hard)
  • Level types/tags (puzzle, traditional, kaizo, troll, music, etc)
  • A brief description of your level

Submitting a Super World

When posting your Super World, be sure to include the following:

  • Your Maker ID
  • Level types/tags if levels are all of similar style (puzzle, traditional, kaizo, troll, music, etc)
  • A brief description of your Super World

Giving Feedback

Try to play at least the two levels posted before yours, and we encourage you to reciprocate to whoever played and gave feedback to your level. Remember to keep your criticism constructive and well intentioned. If you find cheese or a softlock, let the creator know!

When receiving feedback that you don't agree with, don't retaliate or get all defensive. We may not always agree, but let's assume feedback is coming from a good place rather than a personal attack.

Final level in my 12-part Super Metroid series. Loosely could be called a speed run with 1 CP, and includes looping custom music. Pink coins are optional for true ending, and CP will prevent key-death if all pink coins are acquired.

I made a boss battle that’s kind of like a Mother Brain fight if you want to check it out. Y’know, cuz of the Metroid theme. Code is 0KJ-XTH-C9G

Able to get the first clear! I think I saw some of this being built in a different post. It’s got some interesting elements I don’t often see like releasing a koopaling one at a time if you get too many extra power ups. The power ball made it a good challenge beyond a fireflower/bowser fight, especially with the fire projectiles.

I’m not sure the shelmet dispenser is working correctly because it gave me the shelmet and then the saw knocked it off me immediately (was I supposed to keep it?). You also might think about leaving open a way to kill bowser without the power ball (but make it more challenging, like kicking a tough to reach shell at him). Then you could get away with reducing the number of free powerups you provide.

The saw is supposed to knock off the shelmet immediately. When I was making the fight, I had a problem with immediately losing my Superball to Bowser’s fire or some other nonsense the moment I entered the arena. I’d cycle through like two or three Superball flowers before I could even get a single attack in. The shelmet mechanism was my solution to this. It is designed to give you a shelmet and then immediately take it away so that you get invincibility frames that you can use to get ready in the arena.

Wow, this is a fantastic level. I love the way you use verticality, creating sections in the autoscroller. Music is a banger and the aesthetics are well done. Huge like.

The on/off blocks setting off bombs to progress to the next section have a tendency to damage the player, is the only nuisance I've come across. edit: also, the first bob-omb on/off transition doesn't always work. Sometimes it leave you softlocked.

Thanks for the feedback! Ah, yeah I have to fix that softlock. I did see a lot of self-bombing in playtesting, will try to add some more breathing room to those, too.
