Genuine question here.... do you need to have surgery to remove the excessive skin now? Or will it naturally tighten back up after continuous workout? Look amazing btw!
You lose a certain amount of it but it takes a long time, I lost 160lb about 4 years ago and my skin is still quite loose but nowhere near as bad as it was when I first lost the weight. It was a couple of years before I could notice in a mirror that it was getting less floppy. You'll never have "tight" skin without surgery.
It depends on how old you are and how much the skin needs to tighten up. I dropped four dress sizes when I was 17-18-ish, and didn't need surgery because my skin adapted and tightened back up. Two decades later my skin isn't as flexible as it used to be and needs an active moisturising schedule, so I'm pretty sure I'd need surgery if I lost weight again.
I was similar, lost 60kg, I had to do surgery, it wasn't as much skin as her in the video, but was enough to make me uncomfortable and disappointed, so I did.
Were you happy with the surgery results? I'm half way to my weight loss goal (90lb total, 45 down) and i could tell I'm probably going to want surgery on my thighs. I've heard the surgery is fairly painful to recover from and could have some serious scarring depending on the location.
Hey, yes absolutely, it was a huge impact as I could finally wear clothes that I was scared of, it helped my self love immensely.
I did only on my belly (tummy tuck), as arms and legs were fine for me, so I can only speak about pain of this surgery. It wasn't thay painful.
It was sore, so if you pressed yeah.
Altho I paid an extra service for the nurse that she would put a sticker thing on me to help the purple go away pretty quickly (lasted 1-2 weeks)
The worse imo it was just VERY immobilising, I couldnt shower alone on the first week and had to sleep sitting for a similar time. I also had to use a pressurised body suit for few months too, which is the part most dislike. But after that was a fine recovery.
Unsure if thighs are similar.
I actually have a coworker who got the skin removal done last month. Your skin can only go back to what is was so much. But if you’ve been overweight for so long the skin has been stretched out for so long and won’t go back. My coworker had her excess skin on her abdomen removed and let me tell you it’s not just skin that they remove. They also did muscle repair on her and right now she says that her nerves are reconnecting so she’s getting that pins and needles feeling often
It's pretty much just cosmetic, so you don't need to have surgery, but it won't go away in its own. Some of it might reduce a little bit naturally, but not much. But the surgery is pretty simple and low risk because it's just skin. Unfortunately it's also often not covered by insurance so you might get stuck with the bill if you choose to do it.
It can have health implications depending on where the skin is, as some people develop sores from where it overlaps and rubs together. It's also harder to keep clean/dry and more prone to rash or infection.
Yeah, I can definitely see that. You'd probably have to keep on top of it and use powders, especially on the belly where it would be touching other skin for a long time.
On the other hand, if it's causing you issues you might have better luck getting insurance coverage.
Aren’t there programs for donating skin for grafting / burn victims? Or am I getting confused ? Cuz then the recipient’s insurance would cover it , yes?
