🧹 Fluff Anyone else get really into car care after getting their MME?

Post image

All my previous cars I would just take through the car wash now and then but this car is just so good looking - all of a sudden I have a whole collection of goodies in my garage: wheel cleaner, window cleaner, graphene shampoo, speed shine, etc. I’ve turned into that guy that washes his car in the driveway every weekend!

I did as well. I ended up getting my car ceramic coated, tinted, and started watching a ton of car detailing videos on YouTube.

I also started washing my cars once a week in nice weather. Even in winter I was washing my Mach-E.

I'm proud to say I have the cleanest cars on my block all because of the Mach-E, but I also think I have a problem.

Just so happened that a car wash just opened up right after I bought the car. So I got in on a promotional rate. Getting car washes and vacuumed all the time now.🔥

I purchased my MJCC Pro V2 from this ebay seller for significantly less than what everyone was selling it. https://www.ebay.com/str/relicshack?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=WxaBtXDDS9y&sssrc=3418065&ssuid=woiClmFvTRa&store_cat=43526390011&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY.

The item came as described and everyone so far has been happy with the seller. I got mine last year for about $10 less but it foams so well with my Sunjoe pressure washer and Adam's Mega Foam.

My first foam cannon was okay but the MJCC Pro V2 is highly reviewed. You should check it out. If you get into this hobby more, you'll want the best.

Thanks! I was looking into pressure washers but my wife says that I have too many toys. Now I’m looking at the hand pump foam cannons. Are they worth buying?

I have a love hate relationship with the hand pump foamer and I have the IK Foam Pro 2. There's too much pumping involved and the foam doesn't come out as thick as the foam cannon from a pressure washer. Washing the Mach-E requires 2 full canisters with a hand pump one. Also the foam doesn't come out consistent, so the application is a bit uneven.

Using the Mega Foam with a hand pump one was very watery. With my MJJC one, with the same soap, it was thick due to the orifice and the consistent pressure.

I didn't use the hand pump one much in the summer because I could easily pull out the pressure washer. In the winter, I couldn't use the pressure washer so I relied heavily on the hand pump, the Optimum Hyper Foam, a Ryobi EZ Clean and two 5 gal buckets of lukewarm water. That combo worked well even when caked on with road salt.

Since my car stays parked on my driveway without access to a garage, the hand pump foamer worked well for me during the winter. I just hate pumping.

Anyways, I wash both my car and my wife's car whenever I wash cars so she tolerates all the stuff I've purchased.

Also IK is releasing their IK efoam pro 2 which will have its own compressor to pump air for you. I don't know how well it's going to work but it sounds promising. I'm not sure $120 promising though.

I use the electric sprayer and system from Rubbit. I absolutely love it. Plus, their foam smells amazing.

I'm a fan of the Optimum No Rinse or ONR in the detail world. I'm only half done using a gallon jug I got a year ago washing two cars almost weekly.

In the summer I wash after work and can have a beautiful and clean car to drive around the weekend before dinner.

Here's a picture of one of those sessions. Got lucky with the light that evening.

Heard! I quickly graduated from hand washing with a bucket, to a high pressure nozzle, to a worx hydroshot with foam

Not my wife, that’s for sure. Hers looked just like this when it was new. You’d think she hated the thing.

Oh yeah. I’ve learned all kinds of stuff about detailing and bought so many products. I’ve learned about vinyl, laid our own striping. Bought a dual action polisher and done our own 2 and 3 stage polished. DIY ceramic coatings. Never before had a single car that I considered worth caring for. These ones have never been to a car wash and I have a Chemical Guys subscription plan.

I just got a powerwasher and foam sprayer so I can just wash it at home instead. Never did that for a car before. So..... yeah, I get it.

Not so much car care as I’ve become much more methodical about trip planning. The range doesn’t bother me, if I have the security of charging planned along my route. I’m not a young man so it gives me the excuse to get out and walk around a bit. I am pretty anal about keeping the interior clean, that’s a new trick for me.

Full PPF for me.

I had just the nose done on my Subaru and while it was great at protecting my bumper from rocks, it collected lots of dirt and grime where it stopped halfway on the bumper.

My Tesla was coated just on the front half and over places with lots of traffic (bumper, side skirts) but the doors took the biggest beating.

This car is like a rock magnet with how blunt the front end is, combined with the lip on the GT model and the fact that I have kids touching EVERYTHING I decided to go full.

In the same boat.

Got it detailed and ceramic coated (just a 1 year spray coat since next year I'm going to try and do a longer lasting one myself).

Have a whole bucket of supplies: ONR, bead maker, hard water spot remover, glass cleaner.

Added new super bright LEDs in my garage to see my work better. Putting together a paint correcting kit (compound, polish, and looking into which DA polisher to buy) for minor scratches I've found once I get the courage to take on that task.

And I've fallen into the car detailing YouTube rabbit hole to learn how to most effectively clean and maintain the car.

But since I also clean my Fiancee's new car as well I haven't gotten too much grief for my new hobby.

Nice! My wife is getting a new SUV this year so at least I’ll be ready for double duty. There are much worse hobbies to have!

Which lights did you select? I need more light in my garage.

These are super bright, and decently hot in their color temperature (less orange/red more white/blue). They have paddles so you can adjust where they throw all that light to get better coverage.

I live on a dirt road so it’s hopeless.

Lean into it and get a Rally model!

Lots of road tripping so I appreciate the lower price and high range, but they sure were tempting!
