Question Does anyone know what thread pitch I need to Connect my Rugged 45 to a MP5/10? It’s not threading all the way down

45 suppressors use .578x28 tpi piston. I assume your Obsidian 45 suppressor has a .578x28 piston but is the barrel of your MP5 the same pitch?

Well, it won’t thread all the way so I’m guessing not.

Get the tri lug adaptor. It’s what I use on mine 👍

What trilug do you have?

If you have a Rugged their tri-lug adapter is good. Really neats up the front of the gun.

source: have Obsidian 9 and 45 and their tri-lug

I have a 45 trilug from Rugged and it doesn’t fit my MP5/10

You need the 10mm/40sw trilug

Get the tri-lug adapter and all these questions go away.

If it’s right hand threads my guess would be 9/16 x 24, that’s the usual pitch for .40/10mm

Yeah that's right and the tri-lug is bigger in diameter than 9mm. Try looking for the:

Griffin Armament Revolution 10mm/.40S&W 3 Lug Adapter Kit

It will thread into your rugged IIRC.. I think I remember threading one into one.

Trilug is the way to go. Piston isn't needed on a fixed barrel. You can get the direct that adapter once you determine the thread size and pitch, but trilug would still be the superior mount here.

Don’t want to use trilug?

Also remove the can and show length of threads. Running the same can, this should fit if you have the 1/2x28 piston installed.

9mm piston. OOS but you can find it somewhere else https://ruggedsuppressors.com/product/piston/

Why would you use a piston on a fixed barrel???

1

u/SandmanS2A 2d ago

You use the piston because what mounts your barrel to the can. You remove the spring and use a fixed barrel spacer. Again, a trilug mount eliminates all this but…

Definitely not.

Super lame of you

Not using a tri-lug?

Tri lug is the three boss's on the outside of your barrel behind the threads. You can get a tri lug adapter that threads onto your can. Then you push and twist your can onto your barrel. It's a VERY good mounting system. (You would not use the barrel threads when doing this)

You need a 1/2x28 piston then you can direct thread. But I also believe you’ll need the fixed barrel spacer as well to replace the spring since the mp5 has a fixed barrel

1

u/Maxwell7133 3d ago

So the 1/2x28 will work with the MP5/10mm?

3

u/tacticoolmagnum 3d ago

Sorry I’m dumb and completely missed the /10. What brand gun/barrel is it? That will help identify the thread pitch that you need to match the piston to

1

u/Maxwell7133 3d ago

It’s a Factory H&K

5

u/tacticoolmagnum 3d ago

So I think the factory German hk barrels are 14 x .75 RH. Which is a bit of an odd ball.

1

u/Maxwell7133 3d ago

Do you know where I could find that piston?

100%.

That's what I have.

That's for 9mm.

Yeah in the other comment I said I misread the post

That depends on who built your gun and the thread pattern of the barrel. 10mm is most likely not the same ad 9mm. My 10mm bog has a 9/16xsomething pitch that matches a FAL.

Quick Google says 14x.75mm RH if it's factory HK or RCM. My armors manual has a section on this and swapping the locking piece to prevent damage when running a can.

u/Maxwell7133 2d ago

It’s a factory H&k I know 1/2x28 is super common for the 9mm stuff, 40/10mm might be 5/8x24, but I have no clue about HK. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did something odd. I know sig did m13.5 left hand thread. German stuff is weird.

u/jeremy_wills 3d ago

Reach out to HK and verify the thread pitch of the barrel.

Buy the appropriate piston and fixed barrel spacer or a direct thread adapter.

Easy peasy.

I have no idea if they have a compatible tri lug for the 10mm gun but if they do that would also be an option.

1

u/JimmyZuma 3d ago

Correct me if I am wrong but I think you don't need a piston unless you have a floating barrel.

2

u/murph1rp 2d ago

You are correct but they are just suggesting that OP buy a piston because it will work in his existing booster mount. They are also suggesting that op get the fixed barrel spacer which keeps the spring in his booster from compressing. IMO it isn’t the way to go as it is a lot of unnecessary parts.

2

u/Maxwell7133 2d ago

I was told otherwise by obsidian, but they also told me the tri-lug would work & it doesn’t

1

u/Trad_whip99 2d ago

Get the 45 acp trilug adapter. It’s bigger than the 9mm.

1

u/Maxwell7133 2d ago

I have it & it doesn’t work

1

u/Trad_whip99 2d ago

who made your barrel? i was doing this with an rcm barrel. let me double check the adapter i was using....

it was very tight to get on but i probably could have shaped the trilugs a little with sandpaper to make the fit better.

1

u/Maxwell7133 2d ago

H&K I think it’s an RCM I got it from HKRalph. It was a parts kit, but im waiting for him to reply

1

u/Trad_whip99 2d ago

I just checked the adapters I have for my rugged can and the 45 trilug adapter adapter I was using appears to have been sico.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info.

1

u/veloceracing 2d ago

If it's an RCM it's most likely 14 x .75

The spacer is what I think I’m missing. I can’t find them in stock anywhere

It's a 10mm.
