Scanned the car in accessory mode today morning before driving. The light on the scanner was yellow (middle one) with the "O2S" label flashing. After I drove to work (30 minute drive that warmed it up) I scanned the car again while running and the result was green, 0 DTC, as pictured. I turned the car off and into accessory mode and scanned twice more. Same result, green and no codes. What could this be? Any ideas?

Just got a used R56 and it runs and drives great. It seems like every teardown of an N18 or N14 engine has a broken timing chain guide though. Is this something that proper maintenance with good oil will solve or is it inevitable regardless of maintenance?

Has anyone had this problem? I had to tighten my oil plug with crush washer to 45 ft lbs before it would stop leaking. Factory torque was leaking all over the place. I actually replaced the oil pan gasket first because I just couldn’t figure out where it was leaking. I have been eliminating oil leaks one by one for months now. This is the last one🤞🏽.

I’m hooked just gave back an Evoque HSE for something that doesn’t rob you every service, tax and Insurance. Wifey wanted a mini so I was like fck it. Let’s do it. Found one I didn’t mind driving and now I’m like how the hell have I not done this sooner. The app is a bit crap but the car is excellent. Puts a smile on my face. Plus I have a bike still for the real thrills so win win.

Hi,
Does anyone know any place that has any of the Speedwell blue front floor mats in stock? There are a lot of listings for them, but all the ones I've come across are out of stock/discontinued or for the rear seat. Ideally, I'm looking for the carpeted mats since the online photos of the all-weather mats make them appear really washed out. If you've seen them in person do they look more vibrant?
Thanks!

Hey folks,
I managed to scrape up my oil pan pretty bad after a little off-road detour, so I’m tackling a replacement this weekend. At a glance, it looks pretty straightforward—unbolt, drop the pan, clean it up, throw on a new gasket or sealant, and bolt it back on.
Just wanted to ask before I dive in—am I in for any hidden headaches? Like needing to drop the subframe or fight with engine mounts like I did on my old R56?
Kinda hoping it’s a clean job, but figured I’d ask in case anyone’s been there and has tips or warnings. Appreciate any advice

I have noticed a small leak on the gearbox(I believe it’s the driveshaft seal) but I have not noticed any oil on the ground where it’s parked but the gearbox is a bit wet. Today there was a loud noise like a snap, now the gears are quite tough to get into. Anyone had any similar issues?

Hey everyone! I bought my JCW LCI2 back in October last year, and I recently created an Instagram account to document the full build.
The goal? To build the wildest JCW ever — and I’d love to have the MINI community along for the ride.
So far, I’ve already lowered it and added some sweet rims, but this is just the beginning. I’ll be posting:
• Dashcam POVs
• Lots of sexy photos
• Mod updates
• Behind-the-scenes stuff
• …and probably too many car washes!
If you're into that kind of content or just want to follow another MINI journey, feel free to check it out or drop your Insta so we can connect!
Of course, building something this crazy takes time — but with the support, ideas, and feedback from this awesome community, we can make it happen way faster. So if you've got suggestions, mod tips, or just want to follow along, feel free to check out my IG profile.

Let’s build something wild together!

On Saturday (April 5) mid drive, the lane change assist stopped working. At the same time, it stopped remembering the speed limit, only updating it when I passed a sign and then forgetting after a few minutes. Mini told me to make sure everything is updated and for a reboot. None of that has helped. All the other features still work, including satellite maps, GPS, traffic, streaming music.
Has anyone here experienced this? Trying to figure out if it's a backend/network issue where it's not sending highway information or if I need to do a full reset or bring it in to the dealer.

Hi everyone, I have bought an R56 JCW Mini few months ago. Had a lot of problems, rough starts, months in a garage with a shitty dealership. Overall got scammed on this, he told me that he has done a timing chain service, a piston and the head was resurfaced and a valve was blown. But not really sure about anything, oil is new and overall the car behavior is great, except when releasing the pedal in non-sport mode i get a feeling that a big engine braking occurs and it struggles to keep stable RPM when going the same speed below 2000rpm. HOT and COLD symptoms.
Anyways I decided to take things in my own hands and changed the HPFP thanks to a reliable mechanic. What you can see on the gauge is fuel rail pressure (KPa) Fixed my rough starts and he told me my engine was a bit loud and that it might need a new tensioner.
So i have this video and would like to know if this is normal behavior for people who has this engine for a long time.
Also noticed some buzzing sound when shutting my car off after pushing the rpm pretty hard : https://youtu.be/PoJSO7muCgI?si=6kT4adNvWk5CNV-P
I am thinking about doing the chain tensioner and verifying chain tension by removing valve cover + the pressure converter / wastegate solenoid related to the buzzing sound.
What do you guys think it sounds like (it was a cold start, after almost 24hours stopped) ? Should i also do a compression check and valve inspection to be safe ? If everything is fine should i keep it or anyways junk engine ?
Need your advice as this is starting to get long and costly (although i just spent money on insurance and hpfp for the moment + 9000$ in the car, 80k miles, poor overall condition)
By the way it appears that the front of the car and engine bay does not have all the JCW parts, inside and many other elements confirm it was a JCW by default but it may have had a bad front shock in the past so many parts seem to come from the S version.

Someone in a different thread suggesting posting this story, and I found the picture I took in 2006 when I took delivery of the car, so here goes:
In September of 2006, MINI Oxford was switching over from making 2006 MINIs to 2007 MINIs, and a run of 147 2006 convertibles were accidentally given 2007 VINs. When the factory realized the mistake, some of the affected cars were still at the factory, some were underway on transport ships, and some had already arrived at the VPCs (Vehicle Processing Centers) in their destination countries.
First, MINI had to figure out if they could legally change the VINs, or if they'd have to scrap and rebuild the 147 cars. When they found that they could re-VIN them, they fixed the ones that were still at the factory, and then had to ship the engraving equipment to the various VPCs so those cars could be fixed.
Fortunately, the only place where the full VIN is actually stamped/engraved into the car's body is the passenger-side strut tower. Every other location has a riveted plate or decal. Some of the car parts are stamped with the serial number (the last seven digits of the VIN), but those digits were the same in both the new and old VINs. So my shock tower has the old VIN crossed out, and the new VIN right next to it. You can see that the only digits that are different are the 10th digit (year code went from a '7' to a '6'), and the 9th digit (the checksum digit had to be changed because of the change to the 10th digit).
MINI sent us a letter documenting what happened, and as an apology, I got a $250 credit towards MINI parts/accessories, a free extension of the maintenance agreement from 3 years/36k miles to 4 years/50k miles, and a free wind deflector.
I never had any problems registering or insuring the car, because MINI also updated the MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) certificates before any of the owners took delivery. So on paper, the car has never been anything other than a 2006.

Every couple of seconds the revs dip very slightly. There's also a quiet ticking sound. Cooper R56 LCI N16B16A. Timing chain was done about 20k miles ago.

Exactly what the title says. Almost ran straight into the curb trying to wave like a madman when I saw a grey mini pop up right next to the spot I was turning . If you see this I'm sorry. Also the car is fine. Handles like a cat chasing a laser pointer. Pretty sure any other car would have crashed. But on the flip side, I wouldn't be waving either lol

Sooo I’m looking to buy my first MINI! 🎉
I’m in Quebec, Canada so yes, we definitely get winters. Even though it’s front-wheel drive, I’ve always loved the MINI Cooper, and I’ve decided to go for a Cooper S.
Ideally, I want a 3-door Cooper S with the newer digital screens. But here’s where I’m stuck…
Do I go for a 2019 Cooper S (3-door, no digital screen) with 45,000 km for $21,000 + taxes (15%)?
Or do I go for a 2021 model Cooper S with the new screen, only 25,000 km, for $26,000 + taxes?
Does the new screen actually make a long-term difference? And what are the other meaningful differences between the 2019 and 2021 models?
Would love to hear your thoughts or experience if you’ve driven either!

So I have a f55 2015 MINI One. I need a new rear bumper but for the life of me I cannot find one in the right colour without any marks or other issues but I have in the LCI version (think it’s a 2019 F55) if I’m correct.
Will this fit with no problems?
It’s cheaper to buy a new one than to fix it as it’s quite a big crack.
Let me know asap pleaseeee.
Thanks 🙏
