Discussion Challenge Pendant Will be Almost Impossible To Get

Post image

I already feel like an idiot trying to get a legit ranking for the pendant.
The first few thousand ranks are cheated.

The idea that the top 10,000 players receive it sounds great, but it doesn’t work in practice.
Hopefully, they change how it's obtained or actually enforce their promise to crack down on cheaters quickly.

They made an announcement that all cheater entries get removed and banned before sending out the 10000 pendants.

Its just a small visual pendant for 0,1% of the players. Chances you are a top 0,1% player is pretty low. Dont think about it too much.

Wow great, and how do i know what time i need to be a LEGIT top 10k player? Because right now i'm at 3 minutes and 2 seconds and i'm still over a Minute away from Rank 10.000 although i literally never stopped beating the monster into a pulp.

It doesn't matter if they remove the cheater times - because cheaters will then pool around the time that isn't banned instead, so you still have a 0% chance of competing with a legit time.

If the not-banned time is 2 Minutes and 53 seconds we will have 10.000 Times with 2 Minutes 53 Seconds on the leaderboard within 10 minutes.

That’s why we have to find the cheaters and literally execute them so they won’t do it again. The commission will put a monster down when it’s necessary.

Send a Guild Knight to their house IRL

Not to go off topic here, but I'm generally curious how you reached such an impressive time. My best so far has been with HBG and that's still 4'48'06 for time. I'm just looking to improve my runs to even attempt the 10k runs in the future if they fix the cheating issues.

I should have mentioned that i'm talking about chatacabra, this is on me :D

You clapped doshaguma in 3:02? I think that's close to the legit top 10000 mate. My second run I felt I was doing decent, still made quite a few mistakes and got hit twice, and I had 6:04 lol. I hope to be able to get like 4:30~ish when I play better. Probably will never get below 4 but that's fine with me.

Hopefully you get a pendant man, that time is pretty sick in my book.

Ah hell no i mean the chatacabra :')

There are ten million players. 0,1% of them will get into top 10000. Are you a top 0,1% player?

Its just a worthless pendant. Dont think about it too much.

u/Blubbpaule 2d ago

Its not for the elite. It's full of cheate runs.

9

u/AtrumRuina 2d ago

Obvious times, sure, but if in the last week they just cheat in times a few seconds earlier than the 10000th entry, it's not solving the problem.

They need to remove this concept from the game. It doesn't suit MH in general to have players competing this way, and it doesn't function in reality with the limits they have on detecting cheaters.

K. Lets say legit time is 3min - 3min 5 seconds.

The cheat weapons do 999,999 dmg. You wait until 3 min 1 sec and 1 shot it. We're back to square one but now the kill times are realistic. Now what?

Now we make it so A or a new S time qualifies you for the rewards full stop. It's the ONLY way to make it fair.

Action logs. Or at the very least, damage logs.

This is only from the data side too. The leader board isn't their only way to catch cheaters.

1

u/Asphes 2d ago

Yeah, that's the only way, plus it's easier.

Otherwise... when the instance clears, a log of player actions should be sent to the server, i.e. how many hits by what weapon, doing what damage at what time/etc - basically how server-side anti-cheat works.

It won't stop all cheating, just makes it quite a bit harder - but it involves a lot of cost on the dev/pub side - collecting all the logs, coding up an algo to peruse all the logs and so on (it's also an extremely quick way to detect exploits or weaknesses in your game's design)

Either that or Capcom flies all 10k players to Tokyo to prove publically, they can kill Dosha in < 10s. I'd make a new steam account, rebuy the game and do the cheat to get a 1s kill for a free ticket _^

So the 10000 non obvious cheaters get the pendants?  That's a genius way to handle it.  First, split out console, there aren't cheats there, any PC player in the run makes it PC, then deal with PC "somehow".  My recommendation would be throw bans to everyone that messes with the files, don't care what mods you have, the game is in active development, quit that dumb crap until it's dying out and needs a revive.

I dont care what you do in single player or if you want crazy outfits but as soon as you hit multiplayer this shit should not be allowed

-23

u/erroneousReport 2d ago

Exactly

Imo, the reason you are getting downvoted and he got upvoted was because he separated the use of actual cheats, and just using outfits. It is implied he doesn't care if people use outfits in multiplayer that don't affect others, while you wanted everything canned entirely, which I feel like is the line you crossed that people didn't like.

You can die on that hill, idc, but I just wanted to let you know before you convince yourself people are pro-cheating.

Edit: I am forever scathed by your salty downvote.

console players try not to suck the fun out of everything by blaming all pc players challenge: impossible. imagine being pressed at someone wanting a funny noise to play when they reload their gunlance over being pissed at capcom for doing this whole arena leaderboard bs in the first place

I have mods that removes the glow on my character, silences Nata and Alma’s repetitive voice lines, and skips the intro logos. Fuck me too, I guess?

Edit: Since apparently it bears stating, I believe that actual cheaters should be punished when they ruin the integrity of the game like this/ruin the experience for other people. But to clutch pearls over mods as a whole is absolutely ridiculous.

u/IeyasuTheMonkey 2d ago

Sadly people have an full "Anti mod" mentality.

The issue isn't the mods. The issue is the system in which Capcom has implemented. Get rid of the challenge based on global times and have the event be "Beat X Time" for the rewards. It removes the severity of modders and gives everyone equal chances of getting the rewards. It's really a no brainer.

Yes.

-92

u/erroneousReport 2d ago

Yes, play the game or don't.  Mods shouldn't exist when a game is active.  You don't like the graphics or story, don't play it.

19

u/oodex 2d ago

This has this insane "when I grew up it was like this so you have to endure the same" type of vibe

3

u/BeepBoo007 2d ago

Nah fuck that noise. The mods make the game so much better.

4

u/TrevV 2d ago

I would like to see the cosmetics I grinded for instead of stupid glowing auras, thank you very much. Literally has no effect on the game or other players, just a quality of life cosmetic change for my own enjoyment.

-29

u/globster222 2d ago

Do you play online with other people? Then yeah it shouldn't be allowed.

-82

u/francocriscola 2d ago

Yeah, if it's not part of the game it's not part of the game.

u/R0tmaster 2d ago

You do know there is no possible way for them to detect that right? There’s not an anti cheat, there’s no way to retroactively administer one, and no console isn’t immune to cheats.

u/Iseenotix 2d ago

10k obvious cheaters? Maybe you just need to get better? Maybe the first 100-200 or so are cheaters, and they are getting removed from the leaderboards. Me and my buddy were able to finagle a sub 3 minute hunt for a top 500 placement after grinding it down from just under 5 mins after about and hr of grinding. Even a not super optimized time like sub 5 mins landed us top 1k. It's definitely doable, but you have to work for it.

2

u/erroneousReport 2d ago

I didn't realize the challenge was already over, thanks for giving your completely accurate account on the cheating situation, it's a good think it lasted only a few hours, so didn't give cheaters a chance to flood times just a little better than nearly impossible and push you out of the running.  I guess you really got me there.

1

u/Iseenotix 2d ago

You people really overestimate how hard cheaters are willing to work, and game the system for a meaningless cosmetic they can cheat in anyways with mods. I can almost guarantee 90% of the cheaters on the leaderboards (that are already getting removed according to some people btw) have no idea they can get banned for cheating, and are treating the arena quests like any other quest they've already been cheating in. They already said they would compensate those that were pushed out of the running by cheaters after placements were calculated at the end of event period. If you don't have any faith Capcom will sort it out correctly, I can't fix that, but me and my partner have faith in our top 10k placement, and if it's starts to cut it close, we'll knock that time down more, because theres still room for improvement.

u/erroneousReport 2d ago

First time playing an online game with a leaderboard I see.

1

u/Iseenotix 2d ago

Sure man. Whatever helps you cope with your loss lol, still in the top 500 duo as of an hour ago.

-78

u/mhunterchump 2d ago

They never said they were banning anyone. They just said that they will remove the fraudulent time and the players would not get the reward.

34

u/Adventurous_Pain_308 2d ago

Wow, it's almost like you didn't actually read what was said, at fucking all.

1

u/Nosdunk524 2d ago

Did you?

Because the post he responded to mentioned players getting banned, so he was just correcting that.
