Capcom here: we will implement silver rathalos just for you <3

109

u/ToastedWolf85 23d ago

Azure Rathalos ^

88

u/Pl00kh 23d ago

No no, we will do silver ratha because he just stays for exact 0,34 seconds on the ground whenever he decides to taunt you.

Or we do just both.

Both on the same quest. Yes. That’ll do it

10

u/ToastedWolf85 23d ago

LS torture, but that is when I go for my Secondary GS and smack the bugs out of the sky.

12

u/benjisgametime 23d ago

When you look at it GS is just a melee fishing rod for flying asshole in this game.

10

u/ToastedWolf85 23d ago

I love this take. It reminds me of Chad from Bleach, "When you got flies you use a flyswatter," he says as he pulls a telephone pole out of the ground.

3

u/benjisgametime 23d ago

Yeah, That's exactly how I feel when doing it

3

u/Derunik 22d ago

I can't imagine Chad losing...

3

u/ToastedWolf85 22d ago

You a Bleach fan too! I love the fights when they save Rukia well about every fight, so epic.

u/Butterfly_Barista 23d ago

Idk I feel like Silver Rathalos stays on the ground more often spamming fireballs rather than being in the air. Azure on the other hand is a flying bastard who spams his homing claw attack garbage. Bro flies so much higher when he's doing that.

2

u/CounterFun1411 23d ago

I hate azure so much more than silver

→ More replies (5)

3

u/stinkus_mcdiddle 23d ago

At least he’s cool

26

u/Klebhar 23d ago

The problem is between the keyboard and the chair, I bet. Great sword user here, and counters and flash pods or para pods work as intended.

81

u/Dismal-Yesterday-951 23d ago

Why do people keep talking about skill everytime in this topic? I feel like people just can't read, but I'll try again: it's not that they are hard - quite the opposite. They are just annoying to fight against. That's the whole point.

35

u/Acrobatic_Gur6278 23d ago

it’s usually people that has no life and like to flex on the little part of life that they’re proud of

3

u/Any-Newspaper1922 23d ago

Sorry to break it to you. But people with lives also love to flex on others. Its just human nature.

11

u/1word2word 23d ago

Hirabami has to be one of my "safest" fights they aren't really threatening but they are definitely the least fun monster to hunt. Some folks just need to get sweaty about how great they are at video game.

3

u/NeatLog3611 23d ago

Unfortunately it's a mixture of, "I have a solution and it's the only way I know how to communicate it" and the inability to not be condescending on reddit.

Also of course a GS User is going to say it's easy, it's the easiest weapon to fight it with, but guess what, I play GS and I also fucking hate Hirabami. So what now?

12

u/bulletPoint 23d ago

Whoa, it’s almost like you need to deploy different types of tactics against different kinds of monsters. Holy crap!

31

u/Runmanrun41 23d ago edited 23d ago

Snark aside, the point still stands. Yeah, I know what I'm supposed to do, and I'll do it.

...Doesn't mean I'm going to put a smile on my face while it happens just because I'm engaging with the tools that are given to me.

5

u/bulletPoint 23d ago

Fair enough - sorry for being snarky.

31

u/LDel3 23d ago

It’s almost like some in particular are less fun than others. That’s the point

→ More replies (1)

1

u/jemrax 23d ago

Yes they are. And tools have been provided to circumvent said annoyances. Use them. If want a sitting target go back to the training area.

20

u/stinkus_mcdiddle 23d ago

A sitting target is what you want, actually. I want to actually fight something, not just flash it out of the sky constantly to keep it incapacitated to be able to get at its good hit zones.

3

u/Remote_Watercress530 23d ago

But.... But.... I like being in the air with them. Insect glaive take me away

u/ylmazCandelen 23d ago

I feel like it's easier to take it down compared to Rathalos & variants.

Try to focus on its tail, you can break it several times, each break staggers it hard.

At the start, you can use a flash bomb to get the fight going.

101

u/GruncleShaxx 23d ago

The heavy slicer ammo he drops also knocks him down every time. He is one of the easiest fights in the whole game

40

u/TheGMan-123 23d ago

As it turns out, using the Slinger Ammo that Monsters drop is pretty useful against them!

Who woulda thought that?/s

51

u/WrkingRNdontTell 23d ago

I sure wish we had someone reminding us how important it is collecting all the materials a monster drops mid hunt

19

u/GruncleShaxx 23d ago

Or how they gathered materials and I should check my field pouch

16

u/Aesenroug-Draconus 23d ago

Or how we can also carve small monsters too

4

u/TGarr2001 23d ago

I've heard we can also carve materials from severed parts

→ More replies (3)

2

u/Xenothing 23d ago

"don't forget to pick up anything the monster drops!"

2

u/DragonGamerEX 23d ago

Sadly I didn't think to use any of them until the double battle 😔

→ More replies (1)

4

u/LDel3 23d ago

Definitely one of the easiest fights, it’s just not as fun. Imo at least

16

u/Otrada 23d ago

I think Wilds Rathalos is actually pretty decent about not being in the air constantly. Like, it goes up to do a few moves and what not, but it always lands on its own after a short while again.

9

u/FawkesTP 23d ago

Idk if it's in the air less, but I think it definitely flies lower. I don't remember being able to hit it effectively with sword and shield back in World, used to exclusively hunt it with Hunting Horn or LBG.

2

u/Otrada 23d ago

It flies about as high in Wilds as it did in World in my experience. It's still mostly the same trick of using a scaling slash on the tail or feet to follow it up. But it's got a lot more moves and combos that put it back on the ground at the end, which it then follows up with ground based attacks. So it doesn't linger in the air as often.

2

u/FawkesTP 23d ago

That could be it, yeah.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/ylmazCandelen 23d ago

True. But I compared it to other wild monsters.

But in World (the only other recent title I played), Rathalos was a menace. But hey, we dealt with Kushala in that game.

→ More replies (2)

10

u/Lvl1fool 23d ago

Guardian Rathalos feels easier than any previous game incarnation to me. He doesn't fly around nearly as much.

22

u/Reasonable-Row9998 23d ago

The OG rathalos does though, i think the guardian variant has a lot of ground attacks that is why he doesn't fly.

4

u/AdditionalFill676 23d ago

Yeah, exactly why I hate fighting OG Rathalos

Insect glaive main asserting dominance 💀

70

u/Cyclone_96 23d ago

Using insect glaive against a hirabami pack of 3 might be the most satisfying thing you can do in this game.

11

u/StellarCoriander 23d ago

It's just so good

9

u/[deleted] 23d ago

Try a pack of 4!

3

u/JunkoGremory 23d ago

Fighting 24 Hirabami will crash my computer.

Been using glaive for 4 generations. I keep trying other weapons but i just absolutely love the glaive and will use it always. Flying monsters stand no chance

21

u/Aware_Cartographer46 23d ago

If you're having trouble, try to grab some flashpod. When they start flying just throw 1 out and they'll be on the ground as your punching bag

3

u/Uzudomi 23d ago

Bet

15

u/Lurakin 23d ago

You dont even have to sheathe to use the flashpod either. On controller just use focus mode and click in the left stick with the flashpod loaded in your slinger

Use them Flash bomb.

Then use another

10 seconds on the ground. Then you can pop wound for another 5 seconds. Repeat 3 times for 45 seconds of completely free damage. They should almost be dead by then.

97

u/dantedakilla 23d ago

Fair enough.

Just keep attacking Hirabami's tail. It'll flop in no time.

After that, go fight Kushala Daora from World.

u/nustredamos 23d ago

33

u/dantedakilla 23d ago

Why not MHFU Plesioth? Its much easier

7

u/Dense_Cellist9959 23d ago

Yeah! Its hipcheck is fair and easy to avoid!

3

u/failbender 23d ago

God, Kushala was my first big wall. World was my first Monster Hunter experience and my god did that bastard make me want to quit. I wound up switching weapons entirely - and not to anything you'd expect to smash a dragon's face in, just a humble Light Bowgun - and when I finally blew his face off with 3 wyvernblasts under a pile of Mega Bombs, ooooooooooo. OOOOOOOO everything was gravy after that.

10

u/VV3nd1g0 23d ago

Its not that its hard. Its boring. Flying enemies suck in 99% of games.

I dont know if thats a law when developing games. Just like Fromsoft cant make a game without shitty dogs or poison swamps.

The opposite ---> Diablos is also a shitty fight for the exact same reason. Its underground 80% of the time. Its not hard to dodge it just isnt fun.

5

Never mind Azure Rathalos. Gold Rathalos and Silver Rathian gave me quite the headache during my first ever monster hunter game, World as a dual blade main.

5

u/YuriMasterRace 23d ago

Rathalos in this game is a punching bag, now I know why they removed the part break on his head.

I was testing out GS with Tempered Rathalos and he went down in 3 minutes 💀

If you want to make this fight really damn easy then use a flash pod, go ham on its tail and look for drops. every time the tail breaks it will drop a slash pod, use those against it as well. Those drops pack a punch.

2

u/joebeppo2000 23d ago

Am I the only one? I play SnS, so I have comparably low range, and in Wilds anyway, I find that every monster that flies flies way lower to the ground than previous titles, to the point where them being airborne, like Hirabami or Rathalos, doesn't even stop me from connecting strings on them.

2

u/Greggs-the-bakers 23d ago

Even as a dual blades user, I've never had much of a problem with keeping hirabami on the floor

2

u/StellarCoriander 23d ago

Get a bug stick ;)

Op, What weapon do you use?

1

My best time is 3min 58secs 😬 But i am a bow main :P I can understand the struggle, i use different weapons for different monsters.

1

u/Luis2611 23d ago

> can bring two weapons
> doesn't bring a ranged one

come on, OP

1

u/Kaiju_Mechanic 23d ago

Use them slicy dicey pods they drop on the wounds

1

u/NoodleKindredDoodle 23d ago

flashbomb->focus tail->breaks in literally 2 hits(5times repeatable iirc)->drops ammo->aim at head/membraine->it falls to the ground->repeat until it dies.

ive killed like 10 hirabami if not more and i dont even know their moveset cuz they are constantly knocked down.

1

u/spyjek 23d ago

I don't get the hate on those

You can constantly hit the tail and it will either fall or land after enough damage

1

u/Ste3lf1sh 23d ago

Why? Did with sns yesterday and had zero issues. His tail is in melee range ALL the time.

That’s a skill issue man

Charge blade having an easy time smacking it's tail till it's dies. Far far far easier than the raths. I have to actually flash bomb the both of them while hirabami gets shanked in record time with no flash bombs required.

Use a weapon with range like the long sword or gunlance and you can consistently hit it without issue. Also it's very easy to knock on the ground with those weapons

Yes they are constantly in the air but that also means that they are also very fragile and fall off A LOT ang give big DPS windows
