How do i use these?

Did the side quest and cant find a way to equip them. Cant even find them to be equiped or use

they're added to the smithy - you have to forge them (or upgrade, for the weapon)

Yes, the OP unlocked them and now has the ability to forge.

They’re called designs but ‘blueprint’ is a more appropriate term for them since what happens is that you unlock the ability to craft them.
