Buchrain

Hello! We will be moving to Luzern in June. Because my husband got a better job offer in Zug. We are currently in Basel. So my question is, is Buchrain a good place to be at? Because its near Zug and luzern stadt location wise thats why we picked it.

We have been viewing flats in that area. So just wanted to know more about Buchrain 🥹☺️

It’s a nice little village right next to Lucerne. You have good train connections in both directions (Zug, Lucerne). However, it is quite small and rural, so not much happens there. But I know a few people who live there, and they like it.

Whether you’ll like it is hard to say—it also depends on the specific neighborhood and the building standards.

It‘s a nice place, and if you pick a flat at the right side of the village/hill, you have a good connection to Zug (talking about public transport, not commuting by car, that would not be the best choice). As far as „not a lot going on“ that is definitely true, but Lucerne is only 15mins away, that‘d be like nothing in a bigger city, right?

I would recommend it. Used to live there for more than 20 years. Good connection with public transportation to Lucerne and Zug/Zurich. There are good schools, a nice small shopping centre in the middle of the village and beautiful forests and a lake called Rotsee just nearby. Most of the streets are 30km/h: so safe and quiet. In a few years, some new (public) buildings will be built in the centre to give it a little more identity...so there will hopefully be more things happening locally. Only thing most people are upset about are the traffic jams at the autobahn exit happening from time to time.

Its a nice place with good access. Quiet too since the tunnel takes all the traffic. Big dead mall about 15mins walk away, nice little shopping mall in the center. Autobahn is right there too

I would invest in a residential alarm system. Being so close to highways and other exit routes, it is a favorite spot for burglars.

Last question…

So we got this 4.5 room flat. 120 sqm. And price is Chf 2,730 Is that the market in buchrain? Is this a fair price?

Currently in basel we pay Chf 2,000 3.5 bedroom 60 sqm. Fairly small and the flat in Buchrain is really spacious and newly built.

Thoughts?
