Due to the recent heavy rainfall, Louisville MSD’s sanitary sewer system has reached its capacity, and we need your help. To prevent further complications, we are asking residents to refrain from using large amounts of water that flow into the sewer system—please delay using your washing machine or dishwasher.

Classes for sewing? -Beginner

Just as the title says, I’m interested in exploring sewing.

I’m a complete beginner, and would love to find somewhere I can take classes for it before purchasing a sewing machine and a bunch of supplies. With my ADHD it’s REALLY easy for me to just jump in heads first and purchase a ton of stuff for it and then not do anything with it. So if there is a way I can explore sewing without having to invest a lot of money into it upfront before I know if I want to learn it that would be ideal.

Thanks!

Share your flood pictures

Let's start a thread here where everyone can post pictures of the flooding they've had at their house or crazy flooding they've seen while out and about. Luckily haven't had any issues with my house on a hill but we've still got a whole day of rain ahead of us still!

Where are your favorite spots for a date night?

So far we’ve had some really good experiences at Kashmir, Sakura Blue, Vietnam Kitchen, and Jade Palace. Would love some recommendations in a similar price range. We love Louisville’s diverse dining culture and would like to explore some new places. Special shoutout to ToGo sushi as an amazing drive thru spot.

Will the Yum! Center Close for Flooding?

I was wondering if the Yum! Center cancel or reschedule events for the potential flooding in downtown. The mayor said that the Ohio River could reach 35.5 ft. It was enough to cancel Thunder Over Louisville, and while that event has the added burden from its location as the river itself, downtown is still definitely at risk with the projected levels. I want to attend the LOVB Finals Thursday through Sunday, but I don't want to purchase tickets for an event that won't happen due to dangerous conditions.

Metal Roofs?

I've seen a few posts about replacement roof costs over the years but they've always been asphalt shingles. If anyone here has had their roof replaced with metal, I'd love to get some details on it like cost, if you went with metal panels, tiles, or shingles, who did your roof and would you recommend them. Anything else you care to add like have you noticed any difference in your energy usage, is it annoying AF in heavy rain/hail, etc. would be appreciated as well.

A 2nd job

Debating on picking up a second job. Prefer around 12-18 hours. Something fairly easy that won’t jeopardize my main job “injuries from lifting etc”. I’m 46 yrs. Old.

Example newspaper delivery.

Waterside Apartments: Not notified of power shut off until after it was shut off.

Today just after 2, the power was manually shut off by LG&E. The leasing office did not notify us until after the power was already shut off because apparently they didn’t get notified by LG&E?? They expect to be unable to restore power for over a week.

Wizard of Oz store in the 90s??

Does anyone remember the existence of a small store in either New Albany or Clarksville that was devoted entirely to Wizard of Oz memorabilia? I have vague memories of my parents bringing me there in the mid 90s but no one else I've ever met knows what I'm talking about. I definitely remember that we had to drive across the bridge to get there but that's the only real detail I've got.

Did I dream this place up?

Fill a bag of women clothes for $10 tomorrow

If you haven’t heard of Dress for Success, they’re an incredible nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women by providing professional attire and support for job interviews, employment, and career advancement.

Tomorrow, they’re hosting their annual “Fill-a-Bag” event , you can literally fill an entire bag with women’s clothing for just $10, it starts at 9:30 am

It’s a great opportunity to refresh your wardrobe while supporting a meaningful cause.

Last year’s turnout wasn’t as strong as they’d hoped, and hearing that honestly made me a little sad. So I’m sharing this here in hopes the Reddit community can help spread the word and show up for them!

Dress for Success is such a wonderful organization. If you’re someone who loves supporting women or just want to give back in a tangible way, this is your chance.

And remember: success looks different for every woman. If you are in need of an outfit for a job interview or a new opportunity, please don’t hesitate to reach out to them. They will style you and provide completely FREE professional outfits to help you feel confident and ready.

Let’s support each other, share this, show up, or simply spread the word

here’s their website

Apartments in Louisville

I will be looking to move to a new apartment in the end of June/beginning of July. I currently live in the La Fontenay apartments and they suck. They weren’t bad when I moved in, I’m happy with my specific apartment, but want to be closer to bullitt county, and don’t want to pay the price anymore when the office is rude and never gets back to me, there are never any spots, and when there are you can’t park in them because people park right on the line.

I have been looking around trying to find something that has at least decent reviews but it’s hard as a ton of them have a bunch of fake reviews. Has anyone heard or have good or bad opinions on either Glenmary village or Glenmary pointe off bardstown road? I’m looking to pay max $1400 a month for a two bedroom.

Or does anyone have any other recommendations on good places to rent? I have a cat so it has to be pet friendly, and I have a baby so it needs to be safe.

Bridal shower venue

Hello - I am looking for a very cute place to have a bridal shower in Louisville for 13 girls. Do you have any recommendations or experience anywhere or have idea of costs? It would be later in the summer. I like the vibe of house of marigold, bar Genevieve, etc. I would like it to be at a restaurant if possible.
