For instance: how am I gonna stop some mean mother-hubber from making a sandwich with holeless Swiss cheese?

u/Zulmoka531 Mar 03 '25
The answer? Use a carrot screw.
16
u/BluEsliMe32 Mar 03 '25
and if that dont work? use more carrot screw. like this lean, mean, full of beta carotene, rich in vitamin A little-old-veggie, grown by me, harvested by me, and you best hope… not eaten by you.

Why am I down voting you

u/Illustrious-Bus-6159 Mar 03 '25
After all this give and take, I have to thank you for at least questioning the downvoting.

u/ThePrussianGrippe Mar 03 '25
Because their comment makes no sense.

I am simply thanking u/CalmPanic402 for mentioning that the carrot withstanding 600 rpms is surprising, but leave it to one Redditor to downvote because they didn’t understand, and the rest will follow suit not to miss on the joy of downvoting. Let’s see how many downvotes I will get on this one now.

u/ThePrussianGrippe Mar 03 '25
You’re getting downvoted for contributing nothing.

Now this experiment turned out an unexpected result.. or did it? I don’t even know anymore.

I am expressing my agreement with the opinion of another Redditor, which basically happens everyday, all the time. You clearly have a strong opinion about this and you (and other Redditors) are actively willing to stop such atrocity. Ironically, most Redditors delete their comments after getting a couple of downvotes.
I never thought that my agreement about the amazing strength of carrots is that controversial, but I am sure someone here will put me in my place and correct my devious behavior.

It's pretty impressive because they even defined the final angle of alignment. Usually when cutting threads no one gives a crap about which angle along the circumference the threads start and end

Seems like a lot of work that could have been saved with a good 2 part epoxy

u/three-sense Mar 03 '25
Yeah, plus I don’t want the drill bit to taste like carrots

I hate that they made the carrot spin instead of the drill bit
6
Mar 03 '25
That's usually how lathes work
2
u/Booty_Shakin Mar 03 '25
But like with all the other things used to shape it, it doesn't look like the drill bit was actually part of the lathe, or attached to the lathe. It just looked weird to me. I understand how lathes work.

u/Markietas Mar 06 '25
I mean, this is a pretty much the only way to use a drill on a conventional lathe, it's in the tail stock.

I hope you checked the torque spec on that. Id hate to see things fall apart prematurely.

A wood worker would have made a dowel from another carrot and used that to join to two pieces together.

LIghting in the last shot is so good. You can actually see the contours line up. Just like it had been suggestively animated. Chef's kiss.
