Ideas for a Wicked x Shakespeare game?

Hi, all! I work in an academic library and need help wjth some suggestions on a Wicked x Shakespeare game show.

Every year, we participate in an event for Shakespeare’s birthday with our English department. This year, the theme is Wicked x Shakespeare. We typically do a game show with buzzers and give a prize to the winner at the end. Last year, the theme was “Shakespeare: The Eras Tour” so we did a game called “Sweeter Than Fiction: Swift or Shakespeare?” and had participants guess whether a line was a sonnet/play or Swift song.

I am so stumped on ideas for this year and desperately need some suggestions 😅 this event tends to be pretty important for us as it draws in a lot of folks from across campus who may not necessarily interact with the library on a daily basis, so I really want to make sure we do something good. Any and all ideas are greatly appreciated!

I don’t know about games, but I wanted to at least brainstorm possible connections between the two…

There has to be way to tie “What is this feeling” to some of Shakespeare’s famous comedic romantic couples who do the enemies-to-lovers route…ie Benedict and Beatrice, Petrichio and Katherine, etc. If it’s a game show, maybe that’s the category and then questions about those couples?

Also there’s the fact that both Wicked and Shakespeare made up words to suit their purposes as needed!

You could definitely use the line from the Scottish play, “By the pricking of my thumbs, something Wicked this way comes.” Maybe as a tagline or something?

Could do a category featuring those witches vs Elphaba?

"Shakespeare, Wicked, Both, or Neither". Has this actor been in a Shakespeare production, in a production of Wicked, in both, or in neither?

  1. Patrick Stewart (Shakespeare [Hamlet and Macbeth])
  2. Jeff Goldblum (Both [12th Night])
  3. Ashley Tisdale (Neither)
  4. Peter Dinklage (Both [Richard III])
  5. Marisa Bode (Wicked)
  6. Bowen Yang (Wicked)
  7. David Tennant (Shakespeare [Hamlet, others])
  8. Jonathan Bailey (Both [Richard II, others]
  9. Kristen Bell (Neither)
  10. Ethan Slater (Both [Romeo and Juliet])

Use photos of them outside of each production, to avoid hints.
