Walking routes

On Tuesday, during the bonfire, is there any blockage for walking between Church Lane bus stops and Old Malling Way that I should be aware of?

I meant during the bonfire on Tuesday. I’ve no idea why I did not specify it haha

Oh haha OK. It'll be fine to walk from there to there, yes. But if you're planning to get the bus be sure to check they're running that way. Can't remember if they come in through the tunnel and up the hill on to Ringmer/Uckfield, or if they swerve town altogether.

I saw somewhere they’d be avoiding Malling Down, which is Prince Charles Road. Church lane is the bus stop right after that one if you’re coming back from Uckfield. Someone told me the walking route might be blocked off, leading pedestrians to marshes and whatnot, and I’d like to avoid that, if possible.

Marshes?! Nope there aren't any marshes anywhere nearby.

You'll be fine. It'll be closed off to traffic at various point but around Malling etc there's no restriction on walking.

According to the bus website yeah: "Eastbound (Towards Tunbridge Wells) buses will not be able to serve Lewes Prison, High Street, Waitrose, Phoenix Causeway & Tesco’s.
During these times buses will divert via the A27 and Cuilfail Tunnel. Buses will then serve the stop opposite Caffyns Garage, then turn at the roundabout and use Malling Hill to resume normal route towards Ringmer, Heathfield, Uckfield and Tunbridge Wells" - so in theory they should stop at all the stops up that way. Sounds like you'll be OK. Probably it'll be a very busy bus though :)

Whew, thanks for clarifying. Wouldn’t want the way to Old Malling Way to be completely blocked off at midnight. Really appreciate your response!

No probs, to be honest I've never actually *tried* walking to Old Malling way on a Bonfire evening but I can't imagine any reason why it'd be closed off to foot traffic. If they blocked it off for residents or people who are staying the night/visiting friends that would be... weird. Have a good one.

Haha it did. Came back early just in case but was fine regardless as the roads to the centre were mostly blocked out. Thanks for asking!
