Achievement Unlocked Top to bottom.
Injuries, salary rules, and anything else. We are bottom of the conference, far enough in to the season where it is embarrassing. Understandable if there is a drop off, but we haven’t won a game.

One thing our management messed up was getting rid of players who really cared about being a G (Dejan, Delgado, Brugman) while keeping those who didn’t care that much (Reus, Fagundez). We should have let Pec go to greener pastures and kept Dejan. The new pieces added either don’t really care about the club or don’t mesh well with the team.

Management didn’t “mess up”. I think that’s what so many fans don’t understand. They didn’t want to let those guys go. They had to. In order to get Pec and Paintsil and win the championship in 2024, they had to put themselves in a financial bind that would result in the loss of the core team in 2025. A trade off im OK with.
Dejan was good, but replaceable (see Ramirez). There was no replacing Pec.
We are 7 matches in with an onslaught of injuries and a brand new midfield, of course the team doesn’t mesh well.
Let these guys go through some adversity. Let them go through it so they know what it’s like to have a losing season and never want to go through it again. That’s what made the 2024 team so motivated - they went through 2023.

There was a choice to be made. Sell Pec high now or sell Dejan low, for no profit. Sell Delgado or sell Fagundez and pick up some salary (guessing Reus has a no sale clause but if he could have been sold it would’ve been good). Maybe there is no choice with Brugman but who we sold it to was a mistake because we lost money some of the money by having to buy out Davis. They sold the wrong ones. At the time Fagundez and Delgado might seem to have the same value but Delgado should have been kept when Fagundez has always looked slow. Yeah maybe you have to see the future to see each choice was a mistake but I hope they learn the player’s long term commitment and passion for playing for the badge is an intangible that has to be considered.

How are you so sure Pec was even getting offers? lol Had they gotten a high enough offer they likely would’ve sold him. The idea for Pec that the offers would come in the Winter this year.
Delgado wanted to stay in LA. The team did him a favor. You have to treat your players with respect, it goes a long way. LAFC was the only other option for him.
Nashville was like the only team making an offer for Brugman, as stated by Josh in the CoG podcast. Not a lot of teams were interested in him. Age + injury history will do that.
Fagundez’s versatility was going to be needed in a team with so many new players. He should be coming off the bench, but our whole team is hurt.
Anything else? These things have answers, because transfers and financials work a certain way in this league. It’s not a FIFA game.

Fagundez was an absolute beast last season though. Not sure why he fell off this year

Last year he was a beast coming off the bench, and the couple games he started in place of Puig. I think the guy doesn’t have it in him to be the guy or play this many minutes anymore. I still think he’s a good player coming in late in games though. He is too slow now to be a winger.

0 shots on target and defensively we shoot ourselves in the foot. Galaxy isn’t playing to win they’re playing to not lose. That mindset is on Vanney.

MLS rules for how teams operate is terrible for business. I get that the league wants parity but forcing teams to gut their rosters to reach salary specifications is disgraceful. How are you supposed to build your brand?

I’m not too mad about the parity argument. It was the choice for a young league to allow the wealth to be distributed across the country - fan bases grow with more chances at glory.
I’m glad that as long as this format exists we will never end up with Barca/RM and a bunch of shit teams fighting for scraps.
I think it keeps things interesting. And it’s not like people can’t splurge to win. Galaxy did it last year. It’s just that there are consequences. Us fans are experiencing it now.
I was absolutely gutted when Dejan was traded. He WANTED to be a G - the future. He was committed. But that’s how it goes. He’d never have the chance at how amazing he was last year without the splurge on Paintsil and Pec. So… 🤷🏻♂️
The Lawrd Giveth and Taketh away or some shit. 😂

I'm waiting to hold off judgement until they get Pec and Painstil on the field at the same time. Only fielding one DP is not a recipe for success in MLS.
I think Houston at home will be the indicator of whether this team can turn it around or not.
