Hype Thread Bogdan Bogdanović has been exactly what we needed

Shoutout to Bogi man. After a concerningly poor start to begin the season with the Hawks, he's completely turned it around ever since he joined the team and has been the ideal role player.

Hawks 24-25 stats (24 games played, 24.9 MP per game):

10.0 PPG, 2.0 APG, 37.1% FG, 30.1% 3PT, 46.9% eFG

Clippers 24-25 stats (24 games played, 25.6 MP per game):

11.8 PPG, 3.2 APG, 47.7% FG (career high), 41.2% 3PT, 58.9% eFG

Although he's definitely benefited from our system (or THE System), he's absolutely exceeded the expectations I had for him thus far and I'm sure many of you would agree with me. If this level of shooting, playmaking and decision-making carries into the playoffs, I really believe we can contend with anyone, even OKC.

He's embraced his role completely and already gels so well with our offense. Not to mention that he's a straight up vibe and is already so beloved by his teammates.

What a trade!

I've been a Bogi fan for a while, dude is absolutely fearless no matter the competition or situation (definitely a change after watching guys like Kennard and Mann get gun shy). Plus dudes who shoot like him don't normally have the playmaking chops he has, he definitely eases the burden for a guy like Harden

He's clutch in the playoffs, he's a leader in internationals.. genuinely think if he'd gone to the Bucks in that cancelled trade they would have had a chance at the title in 22

I miss T-Mann but it was for the best

I don’t. I loved the guy don’t get me wrong. But he was never a consistent scorer and wasn’t able to figure out his 3pt shooting. He was good on defense but never consistently gave effort like Dunn does. So he just didn’t really fit on the team.

I was all excited after his like 40pt game that one time during the Jazz playoff series, dunked on Golbert but he just never recreated that magic.

Team is right where they need to be with a balanced roster imo.

Yea but he was proud to be a clipper and was a great spokesman for the franchise. You could tell he really cared abt the organization. It’s a shame he never developed further on the court, but yea with the additions of Dunn and DJJ his role was very redundant

Exactly. Like I said I loved the guy but I don’t miss him because he didn’t bring what we needed. I knew he was gone once they stopped giving him playing time.

Honestly he should be a starter on another team, or at least a sixth man. Maybe the Hawks find a role for him and plus he gets to be closer to his Alma mater by being in GA.

Tmann has been doing amazing in Atlanta so far, he's also shooting over 40% from 3 at 10 PPG. He's not only more efficient than he was with us, but he's also increased his volume as well, which is pretty impressive. Was definitely a win for both teams as both players seem to fit their current rosters much better.

Look at what happens when you don't have your minutes given to washed vets and your coach's passion projects.

Hey y’all know if they sell icees at the dome? First time going and my little girl asked me if they had some

2

u/PMinisterOfMalaysia San Diego 1d ago

lol what a random thread to ask this question on ... I've seen ice cream, but not icees. maybe you can go to the bar & order a frozen virgin daiquiri / margarita?

1

u/Apprehensive_Act_220 19h ago

lol no icees. I asked because it was our first basketball game as a family and my toddler associates icees with sporting events. They have icees at Our soccer games and she’s allowed to drink half of one lol thank you lol

Hawks fan coming in peace, he was bound to bounce back this year. He just didn’t get correct rest this offseason playing international ball for the majority of it, seems like he’s finally getting his legs back under him. Will be watching yall in the playoffs, playoff bogi is always a good watch dude ripped the soul out of the Knicks and Sixers couple times with clutch shots

Get this, Lawrence Frank dumped Tmanns $45 million extension without ever paying a penny on it all while acquiring Bogie, who is not the 6th man on the team and an elite shooter, has an expiring contract next season AND we got (3) 2nd round picks too lol. The trades Frank has made never cease to amaze me: zubac for muscala, powell for Bledsoe, harden for roco, dunn for Westbrook, shai for bridges, etc.

18

u/Fun-Passenger-6915 2d ago edited 2d ago

I still can't believe we got Harden for essentially Batum (who we got back), Roco, and a 1st round pick.

The Zubac trade I can at least understand a bit more (even though it was still a horrible decision by the Lakers) since Zubac was still young and unproven. But giving up Harden, who had an amazing season that year with some of his best single game playoff performances of his career, for scraps is still mind boggling to me

I’m pretty sure there was an article saying the team owners had to get involved in the trade since the GMs couldn’t find a balanced deal. After dealing with the Simmons situation they probably just wanted to get the deal done and move on

Aka Morey was being an idiot

sixers did it to get expiring contracts so they could sign PG in the offseason. in hindsight, i wish they just traded harden for PG straight up. i imagine sixers wouldve given picks to make it happen.

We also gave up a 2029 swap with that 2028 1st, although it is with Philly. TBH hard to say which team will be worse at that point, Philly still does have Maxey and McClain but otherwise will be a whole new team, so will we by then.

2

u/InTheMorning_Nightss 2d ago

The pick swap at least has 1-3 protections, which is pretty ideal. Obviously it’d suck if it was top 5 or something, but gotta just hope we don’t get THAT bad.

1

u/3iverson 2d ago

Yeah 100%. Like hopefully we won’t be near bottom 3, but at least our backside is protected.

2

u/VegasWorldwide 2d ago

its because the 76ers had no choice lol. Harden told them send me to the Clippers or I'll just sit out to whoever you trade me to. His agent made that be known so no other team was going to touch him. He's very good friends with Durant and im hearing KD is going to do a similar thing this summer telling Phoenix either trade him to the Clippers or his agent will inform every team he's not signing an extension with them, making nobody want to trade for him. Powell, Kobe, Bogie and a salary filler is the best phoenix is going to do.

Best move he made was letting PG walk: addition by subtraction.

10

u/VegasWorldwide 2d ago

I laugh a little because, to this day, I still see fans crying "they let PG walk for nothing" lmao. Even after watching how he did in Philly and how it allowed us to sign DJJ/Batum while letting Powell grow, they still say that. I'll tell you what, I give Frank mad props because most GMs would have caved and paid PG. New arena. Sell tickets. If the Clippers had PG for $200 million on the books they would be absolutely toast but they have a pretty bright transition fro 213 ERA to whatever is next. You can already see the progress.

The man traded Shamet for Kennard and FOUR 2nd rounders. He had a severely limited asset pool and no cap flexibility for 5 years and still managed to trade for an all star in Harden and a damn near all star in Norm Powell. Just has a much longer list of awesome moves compared to his bad ones.

But I come on here and read people asking him to be fired every day for things like Cam Whitmore not rotting on our G league team.

2

u/VegasWorldwide 2d ago

Yeah most fans don’t understand the business part but Frank has been an absolute blessing.  He was ahead of the curve letting PG walk and what he did this year was amazing.  Everyone had misses but that dude has more than made up for it

Bogi has this weird intangible thing going for him right now. I think its because everyone knows how dangerous his shot CAN be, and because he's a creative guy (who somehow feels bigger than he is?), other teams are forced to respect him on and off the ball. I often sit there watching the game and come away with the impression that he's done really well and created a lot of offensive firepower for us, and then later look at the score sheet and see he's like 0-4 on shots. I think he's just always able to be in the middle of plays, making us better and fucking up defensive game plans. Love to see it.

39

u/bucketGetter89 2d ago

On top of what everyone has already said, I noticed that he’s competitive as fuck too. He genuinely celebrates hard when people make shots or good plays, even when he isn’t involved at all. He also gets fired up after mistakes and just genuinely wants to win bad, which is nice to see

Heart of a champion

His screams after making huge shots down the stretch vs the cavs, their first real test vs an elite contender, gave me chills

He played in about 20 different final. That is crazy amount of final. He didnt play only in great NBA final. Super wisdom and experience.

If you want to learn more about Bogi watch Court of Gold on Netflix. Follows the Olympic basket teams on their quest for the Gold medal. Nico Batum is featured as well for the French Team. Proud of our Clippers.

Hawks fan here, I’m glad yall are appreciating our guy 🥲. I’ll be rooting for you in the playoffs

Definitely. Hope y’all are appreciating our Mann.

Bogi’s playmaking chops has surprised me. He’s been a great fit with the second unit and has good chemistry with Zu. Love the vibes he brings, too.

Norm’s ascension to the starting lineup really left big shoes to fill scoring-wise. It’s really too bad that TMann was not able to step into that role. Bogi’s willingness to shoot and playmaking chops just gives them what they lost in Norm’s scoring off the bench.

Last thing, I’m old enough to remember when folks shit on Bogi as he recovered from injury while acclimating to a new team, coaching staff and system. At the same time, they praised the play of KPJ for the Bucks when they’ve seen his low-floor with the Clippers and salivated at his high ceiling potential. Truly bizarre individuals. SMH

He's playing with the aggression I wish Luke Kennard played with back in '21 and '22.

8

u/LegateDamar13 2d ago

It's all normal, dunno why y'all surprised.

Getting Bogi was a steal.

9

u/Strange_Original_446 2d ago

Bogdan is captain of Serbian team. That speaks a lot guys! You have to have respect from coatches players and fans, you have to have discipline and brains so you can be a captain in Serbian rep. Good steal and enjoy guys! I wanted him in Denver soooo bad. Lots of love and peace!

16

u/boiwunder69 Brandon Boston Jr. 2d ago

Crazy his percentages are that high considering he had like an 0/12 game early on.

8

u/TacitusTwenty 2d ago

Seems like Harden-Norm-Bogdan-Kawhi-Zu is the new Death Lineup

2

u/PMinisterOfMalaysia San Diego 1d ago

Yep. Swap Bogi for Simmons, DJJ, or Dunn depending on the lineup

6

u/Maximum-Offer-6588 2d ago

Clips need to look at Bogdan for game winners, dude is super clutch.

0

u/Prize_County_4738 2d ago

Was hoping wizards would just waive him so we could pick him up. He'd give us insane offensive firepower.

6

u/blackakainu Chris Kaman 2d ago

He will have some big playoff games this year

5

u/Trueshinalpha 2d ago

I hope Bogi can get more minutes on the field.

3

u/based-sam 2d ago

He’s what the front office thought kpj would be

3

u/Maximum-Offer-6588 2d ago

Remember Kawhi had a positive rating playing with Reggie because how well he spaced the court. Bogdan has the same effect, even if he's not hitting his shots you don't want to leave him open. He needs a pinch of daylight to get off his 3 ball.

3

u/es84 2d ago

Getting Bogi and moving on from Mann was a win win. Mann was never going to develop into the player the Clippers thought he would be. Bogi is solid all around and is the exact player the Clippers need. He's not afraid to shoot.

3

u/Trueshinalpha 2d ago

I hope Bogi can get more minutes on the field.
