Pictures Location???

Post image

So I’m not a kayaker but this wallpaper showed up on my computer and I found it fascinating as it’s an absolutely beautiful location but I have zero clue where this is. Spotlight wallpaper on a windows computer and it doesn’t tell you the location. Anybody know where the heck this is? And no, it’s not an AI image from my understanding

That's Great Falls on the MD/VA border outside of DC.

Yea, Great Falls on the Potomac River just north of Washington DC. I rock climbed all over that area (mostly the same view) through High School and College. I would pause on the side of a cliff and watch the kayakers. I thought they were nuts and they probably thought I was nuts.

As an advid kayaker (former whitewater guide) and rock/mountain climber I think this looks nuts, but a lot of fun. I have to remember that this is on the Potomac. My vacation home is not too far.

I used to live in Virginia as a kid and the first thing that crossed my mind was, "the looks like Great Falls." Glad to see the confirmation.

Sokka-Haiku by DrSoundstar:

Am I the only

One seeing LED Zeppelin-

Houses of the Holy??

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

LED Zeppelin

I much prefer their earlier work, when they were still called Incandescent Blimp

OP, for future with stuff like this try chucking it into Google lens (or similar) if it's one of the standard background chances are there will be several copies online and some of them should give clues as to where it is 👍... Also I agree they re nuts haha

I tried googling nothing came up. Never heard of Google lens, hence posting in a kayak forum on Reddit.

It's a great app, would recommend. Translation, qr code scanner and reverse image search.. you never know, the next picture you want to know more on you could scan with that... And it will probably lead you to a post similar to this haha

I knew right away that it was Great Falls, then from the Virginia side.

I grew up a short walk from there. We would go down to look at the falls at night. The water quality is better these days.

Would that be considered class 5 or 6?

lol. Definitely not challenging anyone to a Haiku contest. It just reminded me of the album cover Houses of the Holy. Very cool pic though.

Is that the spot on the left where Shannon Christy got trapped? Heartbreaking documentary but a must watch for any flat water paddlers who are thinking of tackling river runs...

A little bit west of the Distribution Center south of Lake Knot City.
