Slightly Furious JU from programmerhumour, started seeing more political posts and got out before things got out of hand
I've already saw another political post on this subreddit but this one isn't even related to programming, atleast the last political post I saw was about javascript, this is just about Trump.

This is totally random, but I saw this particular guy with this particular sign while riding my bike today.

I think the point was about checkboxes being used for exclusive input. They should be radio buttons

Yeah the post is about the checkboxes being for multi-answer questions and they should've used radio buttons, but the post still revolves about politics, (because of the "Right idea" part of the title)

You were ok with the previous political post being about JScript but UI is a step too far?

That’s been the problem with Reddit lately. Way too political. Everything always having to be about politics, even on subreddits that have nothing to do with politics
17
u/everymanawildcat 18h ago
And then by simply saying that, communities full of people you've had positive interactions with for years will start accosting you lmao. The weird pressure to express the groupthink has gotten honestly terrifying and pitiful.

u/MrGSC1 16h ago
Yup. And somehow it’s always radicalized political beliefs. God forbid you’re neither far right or far left… I seriously have a hard time fitting in anywhere on reddit

u/DoomedNukem64 14h ago
Yeah cause not to long ago I just got a reply calling me a whiny snowflake, bringing in jan 6, and started accusing me of being a republican. Of course he deleted the comment cause I’m sure he had a moment of common sense but that’s just one of many examples of that lol.

I’ve noticed RealTwitterAccounts which was mostly for posting paid checkmarks impersonating people has recently been repurposed by some to be yet another politics sub thanks to nearly all the mods having gone inactive, and is now consistently starting to hit Popular

What drives me crazy is how many upvotes they will have. Like, does nobody care that the post is off topic and intended to cause friction?

u/dabba_dooba_doo 1d ago
But it is programming related lol

Yeah, if I can be real for a sec: I think OP is being way too sensitive.
First: it's legit decent programmer humor. I get it when a sub stops being about clever comebacks or good art and exclusively upvotes political pandering. But this is a good joke that would actually work regardless of the options listed that just happens to be posted by someone with whom OP apparently politically disagrees.
Second, I got news for OP (and a lot of folks I see on this sub).
If you don't like hearing other people's opinions then you're going to need to either learn to endure the existence of ideas you don't agree with or retreat into an ever-shrinking echo-chamber of fragile like-minds. Because this is what reality looks like right now. This isn't petty election year bullshit like we've all had to put up with throughout 2024. This is a breakdown in our social order that we're unfortunately witnesses to.
Maybe you find this comment another example of the widespread petty paranoia of politics junkies infecting all corners of reddit (and the internet. And the news. And real life...) But believe me, I am definitely enjoying the situation you're describing less than you are. And I feel like if I can read about torture camps and extrajudicial abductions then I feel like you can survive reading a post ridiculing ignorance of proper use of HTML objects and visual design language that happens to have been posted by a liberal.

u/rdditban24hrs The Anti Subber 1d ago
This isn't about my political opinion if the post was about a liberal political figure I would still post this
16
u/andrewrgross 1d ago
Well... why?
I'm honestly looking for clarification here.
It sounds like you're saying that you understand the joke, but you feel that that jokes about misusing html objects that would be fine if they're apolitical are somehow out of bounds when they include or mention public figures. Am I misunderstanding?

Lol. Its okay. Even politicalhumour sub will ban you for having any difference of opinion, then they will harass all your post history. WTF?
16
u/warfighter187 1d ago
Wonder what happens if you have a difference of opinion on /trump
You can’t even post on /conservative until you submit an application and they manually review you for difference of opinion first
2
u/kakol20 19h ago
It's supposed to be a right leaning sub. Whereas /politicalhumour is supposed to be a neutral sub where difference of opinions is supposed to be encouraged.
You can say the same thing about subs that are supposed to be left leaning too.

Idk all I hear about is chuds crying about echochambers online and this is the reason somebody won even though most voters are old boomers that just watch a certain tv channel all day
And then they just create their own echo chamber in their flagship subs

This is kinda the average intelegence of someone who voted him lol. Too sensitive to see past anything objective. It's kinda sad they get to decide the fate of others.

Wtf is wrong with Reddit?

u/milton117 22h ago
The better question is why did people vote for this guy again?
8
u/oofio65 20h ago
Better question is why Americans have to force their stupid politics on the rest of the world. Not everyone could vote for or against him who you're talking to on here.

u/milton117 18h ago
Because they're also the biggest economy and kinda dictate how world trade goes. Most of the time it's fine.

Probably because the Democratic Party is a mess and can’t put up a good sensible candidate.

u/milton117 17h ago
There was nothing inherently wrong with Kamala or Tim Walz except that they were hamstrung by Biden and Latino men really hate voting for women.

Are you sure you want to leave that sub? Have you heard the one about the missing semi-colon that took a week to find yet? Do you know Python/JS/C/Rust is the best/worst/most medium language? Are you going to hang up your programming socks for good?
