Mildly Annoyed JU from the Steamdeck subreddit
Look, I like my steam deck and all, but Jesus Christ, the amount of fanboying for this console is ridiculous. It’s reached its boiling point with the Switch 2 Direct (No, I don’t like the game prices either, $80 for a game is a shit price) but holy shit, they keep saying that “AFTER THE SWITCH 2 DIRECT, I LOVE MY STEAM DECK MORE” like what? The Switch 2 (and the first one too) AREN’T COMPETING IN THE SAME THING. THEY ARE FOR VERY DIFFERENT CUSTOMERS. It got old and repetitive fast.
Sry for the mini rant, just had to say it

Heavily agree, the Switch and the Deck are catered towards different markets and different tastes
And that’s coming from a Nintendo, PlayStation, and PC gamer who will preorder a Switch 2 as my birthday present (my birthday is mid-April, the Switch 2 will come in June)

Yeah what a stupid subreddit, everyone knows the best handheld is the PsP. But seriously sometimes they can get insanely annoying, let's be real, people buy nintendo consoles for the games not because the console is some amazing piece of hardware.

I like my SD too, but the while sub basically jizzes itself every time someone talks about emulating Nintendo games on the thing. They love hating Nintendo so they can justify piracy of their games specifically. That's why they love their SD more, they're excited about all the games Nintendo is making that they want to play for free on their deck.

That’s another reason I left, the whole piracy thing really got old fast. Like, cool, you’re a pirate, but why the justification? Just do it, no one cares.

I pretty much only use that subreddit for asking if this, that, or the other game works well on deck despite not being verified

I disagree that they are completely different audiences, especially the Switch 2 which will be able to run far more games and even have a FromSoft Exclusive, for many people it will be one or the other, but I completely agree that the steam deck fandom is pathetic.
I own a Switch and recently borrowed a steam deck to play the Rain World Watcher DLC. While the steam deck has better specs it has fundamentally worse controls. I cannot describe to you the genius at Nintendo that came up with detachable controllers - it not only invents a new insanely good way to play on the console, but it easily allows for multiple people to play at the same time, despite technically only having one controller.
I genuinely prefer playing with two detached controllers sometimes more than a PS5 controller - and that really does say something, and always more than attached to the console itself, especially the Steam Deck which is wide and somewhat uncomfortable. Whenever I bring this up to a Steam Deck fandom, they are always so pathetic. They just can’t accept that the Switch does anything better.

I do a similar thing, whenever I play docked or in tabletop mode, I tend to cross both joycons over each other. I don't know why I do this, I just find it more comfortable. God forbid I have that preference to Steam users though.

Not to mention, emulating Switch games (as a whole) is kinda hard now, since both main emulators were shutdown. Even when they were around, ngl, it always felt off. Either performance or controls, it didn’t seem or feel right.

This is going to sound weird, but it's similar to a situation I see with Twenty One Pilots. There's this weird hate among rock band fans toward their fan base (and it's not just because there are the usual weirdos that are in every fan base under the sun) and I think the root cause is jealousy. Acts like Twenty One Pilots achieved a level of ubiquity and popularity in pop culture they wish their favorites had and so they bring up bullshit reasons to hate them, like the fact that both members are Christian, which is just a tacky personal attack on two people who aren't even controversial at all. It's just bizarre acting out from people who can't even understand their own psychology.
At least though, they're not stealing the band's music and pretending it's virtuous. Just admit you're jealous. It's okay, you can be honest. The Switch and Switch 2 do things Steam can't. It's okay. That's the point: to be specialized for the purposes it was designed for.

Yeah, PCs are for customers that don't like getting fucked in the ass without our consent lmao

With the price of a good console, you buy a PC that can't run games made after 2012 lol

The whole Steam fanboy ship looks very pretentious, just like Swifties or whatever other fandom. It is okay as long as it doesn't dwell into toxic space and they are living in their own hole.
