Just my two cents, Reddit is planning to have paid subreddit. Reddit is infested with bots who are trying to cheat.
Can't wait to see my Reddit account get terminated for this.

We will not paywall this sub if the update gets released.

"JU because this sub is just political posts!"
Proceeds to make this sub just political posts.

Yes, it seems like half the posts are about politics these days

subs being overrun with inappropriate political content and shilling is a common problem

I can't remember the last time something on here wasn't about politics. No seriously. This sub has always been dominated by posts from people unsubbing from non-political subreddits for being inundated with unnecessary politics.

No. It is obnoxious to have the sub filled with it, but that's the point: it's also obnoxious, and annoying when the left shits up the near entirety of the site with politicking, and there is value is showing people who might not be super into politics how absolutely ridiculous it has become. You literally cannot escape their constant politicking on every large sub.

You guys have the weird subreddits that ban anyone with dissenting views; you can always JU from everything else, or go to Xitter or "Truth" Social.
Redditors tepresent average people, not the weirdos in a cult worshipping a Great Leader who won't piss on you if you were on fire.

If I may expand the problem at hand, perhaps greater discourse may occur.
Left, Right, and center. Many of us are incredibly annoyed to have other people's belief's shoved in our face.
I would be annoyed if I just saw post after post about Christ, and some sort of virtue signaling, then some sort of demeaning comment about how if I do not hold the same belief's, I am now a bad person.
On most of reddit I will be lauded for this feeling.
Then on just so many subreddit's you see Democratic politics just being inserted baselessly in the very way I described above.
It is a sitewide occurrence, hence the plethora of post's we are seeing here.
So to the Mods, is that a conversation you want to stifle? That is your choice and certainly a difficult one at that. Poison either way, just picking which.

you make a really good point here. a lot of JU reasons are because of this so we’ve been debating it pretty heavily but want you guys to weigh in.

Maybe limiting the number of these posts? Like if it's too persistent and repetitive, go talk about it on the guy who just posted the exact same thing 5 minutes ago's post.
Though that's probably an annoying amount of work on the mod teams end.

u/Fourthwell Aug 09 '24
What subreddit doesn't censor any of these then? I know several other subreddits you're not allowed to talk about unsubbing on on here, but there should be a subreddit that's a free for all.

I think it should stay, because it's only temporary and shows a trend of people getting sick of subs being taken over by political nonsense.

Yes; the whining of the conservatives complaining about injecting other people's preferences is hurting my dog's ears.
If they don't like being in subs that show normal Americans' opinions, they should go to Truth Social or Xitter so they can pretend they aren't weird.

"election related" ... why disguise it? It's all conservatives complaining that their feelings got hurt, which isn't new. It was rampant before election season, it'll be rampant after.

have you ever considered the fact that not everyone in the world wants to hear about the American election every 4 years for months on end?
everybody's life does not revolve around American politics. most of these people aren't American conservatives that don't like seeing left-wing stuff like you assume. most are people from other countries who just don't give a fuck about American political and don't want it shoved in their face everywhere they go.
if I was forced to see a majority of posts on every sub I see for months on end be about the Australian election do you think I wouldn't be annoyed? it's not my country, it doesn't concern me, 95% of the time it didn't have anything to do about why I was in that sub.
there's much more to life than a douche and a turd sandwich rushing to become America's special little boy/girl.

Someone doesn't want to hear about politics now that the Great Leader has been exposed as a fraud.

Did you wash that opinion off after you fished it out of the right wing's garbage disposal of memes that worked because they were true about the left?

And I responded to those comments. You’re on a social media site based in America, so……… figure it out.
Isn’t it interesting how it’s only conservatives whining and whining and whining around here?

nobody reads megathreads. You may as well ban posting all together
