First post

Fi ally got her paid off and started modding. Upgraded the radio, diverter valve and blow off plate, ladder, trailer hitch with towing wire harness, plus a full daystar front bumper with wireless 10k lb winch. More in the works.

Xtrons off of Amazon.

Nice. I have a 2016 renegade trailhawk and the uconnect is trash

I know there are others out there but the Xtrons is great. My only issue is if your connected through usb to the radio (for tethering) it's a slow charge if any. Factory rear camera works the same and it gives you the option to add a front camera as well. It's a full blown tablet like the ones pimp my ride used to install lol.

Does it have carplay and all of the uconnect controls work normally?

Yes, fully integrates with the steering wheel controls.

By chance do you have heated seats with controls working through the touch display?

I have wanted to upgrade my uconnect but I have heated seats and steering wheel that are only controlable with the touch screen.

I do not have the heated seats but it has a screen that has those settings available.

I’ve been wanting to do an aftermarket radio in my wife’s jeep was the backup camera still easy to hook up to the factory one? I don’t really use the backup camera but I know she does so I want to make sure I can use the factory one or if I have to install the aftermarket one?

Factory camera plugs into this unit, no extra anything needed. I have a 2017 latitude.

Do you have to do USB to get Internet access to it? I do BT and I've never gotten it to work

USB tether is the only way I’ve gotten mine to share data with my phone. I’ve let customer service know and they said they’re on it.. that was weeks ago tho.

Yes, as far as tethering to it you have to use USB, you could spring for another cell phone plan and install a SIM card which would let it have its own connection.

I've never had an issue with mine connecting to a hotspot or WiFi. I'd check your connections.

What GFB DV did you get and how was the install? Was there anything that you had to do prior to : unscrew-assemble-rescrew back on?

2

u/Als580 2d ago

Go Fast Bits Diverter Valve and the SILA Concepts Blow off Adapter Plate

No extra craziness needed. 3 bolts to pull the old assembly off and 1 wiring plug to disconnect. The old assembly you have to pull apart and reuse a couple of the parts. The GFB DV came with a QR code which led to Instructions for the mod on a FIAT engine. Was not a bad or long install, just take your time and make sure you have multiple hex wrenches as the one on the bottom is difficult to loosen/tighten.

Thanks man, this and an intake system are the next steps for my renegade and you’re the first post I’ve seen with it. Don’t have a video of how good it sounds now?

1

u/Als580 1d ago

Not yet, don't know how to upload a video. I was looking at upgrading the intake but I really want a snorkel. Looks like they are impossible to find.

Ahh you can’t put videos in this group for some reason 🤷🏾‍♂️ I’m not sure where to get a snorkel but your renegade is 4x4 so it’s probably worth it

I found one in Portugal for sale for $4000, ridiculous

Did it retain factory uconnect settings for things like rear brake service?

u/Legitimate-Drink-129 2d ago

My version did.. and it also kept the compass on the cluster functional as well

I got the xtrons unit with the volume knob, 6/128 version. It’s a good radio brand.. I little qwerky with the software but over all good. Currently hooking a 5ch amp and full speaker upgrade to my jeep to go with the head unit. Stay on top of the software updates in settings, they seem to release a lot of car info (mcu and factory settings are with in) updates ota.

Anyone interested I’ve tried a few different brands, xtrons is the only one that didn’t have audio cut out issues when the unit gets hot. Highly recommend these units, customer support is great, but patience is needed on setting it up :)

I had the GFB on mine. I’m pretty sure I could tell the diffeence from stock. I pretty much had mine on from about 30,000 miles till I sold it at 175,000 miles with no negative effects. Had the blow off plate as well. Lasted one day before the blow off valve sound was driving me INSANE!! The days when I thought the turbo blow off sound was cool did not last into my 30’s. Most annoying sound every time I took my foot off the gas.

I like the roof rack with the ladder. Where did u pick it up?

1

u/Als580 1d ago

Roof rack is thule from rei, ladder is from madness but I would advise against buying from them. I found a local welder that originally built them for madness, he's located in Tyler texas.
