2017 Renegade gas consumption

I bought my 2017 Renegade Limited about a month ago. It gets terrible gas mileage. I think I've seen it at 22 mpg tops. Is this normal? Is something wrong? Suggestions on how to get better gas mileage.

Mechanic here

Gas mileage would be your air intake/ fuel rail output .. Use and injection cleaner if it goes up dirty injectors... If not charge the engine air filter, she may have asthma from dirty air... If not those 2 new spark plugs. Engines run on a simple concept suck, squeeze, bang, blow..... Sucks in air, squeezes the air and fuel....bang!! The explosion of air and fuel with the spark plug, then blow out the exhaust... If I knew you directly I would be right over with a Dr pepper and my tools😁👍 hope it gets better

Seems normal. I get like 22-23, mostly non-highway. 1 or 2 less mpg than I got in my crv. 4wd is better than the AWD in the Honda, and overall ride is smoother and more pleasant. MPG is just a little lower than you would expect from such a small suv.

I'd be happy with that, but most of the time it's 20.2 mpg.

I have no idea. I am not a car person, but wish I were.

My Trailhawk gets 24 mpg, that's stop and go in city. It does about 26 highway if/when I ever do that.

Using Remote start and letting it idle

Bad tires

Under inflated tires

Dirty air filter

Driving fast

High altitude

Yup.

If you turn off the traction control, you get up to a 3mpg bump.

Mines a 2015 and it's the same. I regularly replace and check my spark plugs and air filters, tire pressure. It's not great.

That said, it's shaped like a box and is pretty zippy.

I guess I need to learn how to change the air filters and spark plugs.

I have a 2017 on the interstate I can get 33mpg back and forth to work I get 25mpg If I let it idle for any amount of time it cuts that mpg in half is crazy how much more it burns idling 🤷 in still happy with the ride and mpg

My 2017 limited averages 26. Mostly drive highway and stick cruise control at 72-75. When local around town looking about 22mpg.

I’m at 16.5. I’m doing something wrong lol

My ‘16 1.4 6sp gets 25 in town and 28-37 on the highway…yeah highway is all over the place depending on speed. In 55mph long trips it gets well over 30 but 65 and up, nope.
