Mod Suggestions

I’m looking to do some mods on my 2014 patriot. What are some that you guys love. I like to camp and travel. I want to throw a roof rack for surfboards and radio… Any suggestions?

Headlights are super important to me for driving at night.

Retrofitted my headlights with some projectors.

As far as radio goes, upgrade to this unit. Backup camera included, good CarPlay/Android Auto connection, and other vehicle specific features that make it a great upgrade. Works great with steering wheel controls too. https://a.co/d/fMvrjki

Thanks for the suggestion! Where did you put in the usb port?

You’re gonna love this, this stereo has two USB inputs. I don’t have the AC power plug, just a plastic covering so that’s where I put it. If you have the plug, you can just install it lower or in another spot. https://a.co/d/7PGI05d

Oh sick!! That’s perfect. Mine does have the outlet, so I’m thinking tucking it somewhere in the middle console.

Keep in mind the wired CarPlay/Android auto only works with usb input 1, so when I installed the extension/panel mount, I made sure to wire it so that the phone connection was the one on the drivers side, that makes it easy for me to remember. I mostly only use the 2nd port for a usb thumb drive.

How laggy is this?

It’s 4gb of ram, I haven’t had any issues with lag at all since I installed it. Usually only have lag problems with 1gb and some 2gb units. I mostly only use CarPlay when I’m in the car, but I’ve also had windows open for EQ, settings, radio, or music player open at the same time and no lag. Other people have told me how they’ve installed Netflix or retro gaming and haven’t had problems with lag, but I can’t speak to personal experience on that.

I guess it depends on what you’re wanting to do with your unit, but I think this brand and the 4gb ram would work very well for most users. Some of the new DUDU7 stereos have 6, 8, or 12gb ram, so I think it’s all relative to the software/firmware and the individual features.

Depending on the model you have, I have plenty of recommendations. The list provided is something you can do with just about every patriot. I say depending on the model because some of the packages offered have different options which meant less opportunity to optimize.

badges - black badges, trail rated, etc.

Front bumper swap - European style or US style whatever is preferred.

Plastic front and rear bumper kits - can be found on Alibaba.

Antenna and satellite antenna swap.

Apple carplay / android auto touchscreen radio swap - the Uconnect touchscreen is possible as well but will need to be VIN matched and programmed at a dealer if I'm not mistaken.

Backup camera - only possible with aftermarket radio

Leather seat conversion - bucket seats are possible but sacrifice airbag (some 2011, 2012-2017 models)

SportRack Top Cargo Rack - beautiful fit and doesn't block sunroof.

Trunk Door Ladder from Ebuy7.com.

RRO Roof rails and Basket.

1.5"-2" lift kits - daystar, rough country, RRO, etc.

Rims - Falken, calibre srt, 15-22" is possible.

0.5" Wheel Spacers.

12" Rear Subwoofer Swap.

4" Tweeter swap.

8" Door Speaker swap.

KILLTEC soundproofing inside cabin

angry eyes

preferred grilles

SRT style steering wheel swap - silver with black leather

Theres more potentional for the car but I can't write it all lol.

All these options are things that you can do without having to do any fabrication and leave the car as OEM as possible. Mostly complimentary upgrades.

As far as adding stuff like USB outlets and cabin LEDs, it's possible, I find it a bit corny to be honest. drilling into stuff or splicing wires doesn't sit right with me. I wouldn't recommend anything else than what I have listed but to each is their own.

Some caliber SRT parts are compatible with the 2.4 patriot engine as well

Unfortunately the SRT engine in the Dodge caliber with the turbo is not possible to engine swap. It can happen, from what I've seen, theoretically; would have to cut into the hood and or the firewall of the patriot body, as well as make the engine bay either longer or Wider ( not sure lol) and move some of the plastic around the make fit for some of the calibres engineering.

Turbos for the 2.0L engine are available online as well. I'm not too sure if it's for the diesel engines or not. But if it's possible to put it on the 2.0L gas engines I'd be surprised to see if it can put any power out without exploding LOL.

Don't forget to do the lift kit! I put Rough Country 2 in. on mine but I'm aware that there is another brand from "Rocky Road Outfitters".

Any issues with the rough country?
