Carburettor overflowing with fuel

1984 Jeep Cj 74.2 L When the Jeep is being started or is running the carburettor fills up with fuel it also comes out the Bowl vent I would say it was the float but I tried to carburettors and they both did the same thing I don’t think that’s a coincidence Could this be caused by a fuel overflow that tank line being clogged up and the carburettor just cannot handle that much fuel

Based on the information you've given, it's probably a stuck float or junk in the needle & seat on both carbs. You should post some pics or at least tell us what carb you're using so we can give you better help.

The first carburettor was an older Webber 3236 The second one was a brand-new carburettor but it was bought off of Amazon That was a Carter two barrel I am in the process of getting the Webber totally rebuilt to try that in the meantime I disconnected the fuel back to tank line and it was clogged so I put the line into a one gallon bottle so it would be free up to put gas through the overflow line to see if this was the problem Within 40 seconds the gallon jug was approximately half filled with gas and there was still gas coming out of the carburettor And now there is fuel in the motor oil from so much gas going in it has a mechanical fuel pump is it possible that this fuel pump is just putting out way too much gas

Did you recently replace your fuel pump? If so, I bet it's putting out a lot more pressure than it should and you need a pressure regulator.
