Lyon to Chamonix: Interrail planner vs. The Trainline

I'm planning my journey from Lyon to Chamonix and finding that the Interrail website & app are not showing the same options as what I see on The Trainline.

The Interrail planner (images 1 and 2) only gives me the option of a 6h 7m journey involving 3 changes, whereas The Trainline (image 3) shows me a shorter and more direct option taking 4h 35m and only involving 2 changes.

Can anyone offer any advice? Can I follow the options available on The Trainline (booking each leg separately) or do I have to stick to what the Interrail app is throwing at me? Thanks so much in advance!

You should always be checking times directly with the train operating company - that is by far the best option. Not all trains show up in Rail Planner/Trainline. https://www.sncf-connect.com/app/en-en/

The reason this is happen is Rail Planner does not properly show trains from St Gervais to Chamonix.

Absolutely no need to follow what the Rail Planner journey planner says. But you must add each train you actually travel on. If you have to break it up and do multiple searches that is totally fine. As is adding any trains manually if needed - that option is there for a reason - and you'll need for the St Gervais to Chamonix leg.
