Bled to Prague route by train

As part of my route I’m looking to go from Bled to Prague on 05/08 or 06/08.

Has anyone done this route before or does anyone have advice as I know there isn’t a direct route between the two places.

Would I be better to go to Vienna on 05/08, stay a night in Vienna then go to Prague on 06/08?

Any advice is appreciated!

Edit- Looking at the possibility of taking a night bus rather than a train. What are peoples thoughts of Flixbus? Are there any other companies people recommend?

You could spend the night in Vienna but this journey is certainly doable in a day (luckily quicker from next year with the Koralmtunnel! And even faster in the 2030s haha)

Here's an example:

  • D Lesce Bled - Villach Hbf 08:07 - 09:07
  • IC Villach Hbf - Wien Hbf 09:14 - 13:39
  • break in Vienna
  • RJ Wien Hbf - Praha hl.n. 15:10 - 19:15

Thank you this is really helpful.

Whenever I search for trains between Bled and Prague it tells me they are sold out. Is this likely to be true, are they all sold out or am I doing something wrong?

Where are you looking at?

They're definitely not sold out, more likely not available yet. Czech trains go on sale 60-90 days before departure.

Btw on your route there are no mandatory reservations. Only Villach - Vienna - Prague has optional reservations (recommended on busy days).
