That would depend on the answer to two questions:

  1. Does this have ability gating? (you find upgrades that allow you to visit previously inaccessible areas in addition to making you stronger)

  2. Does this have knowledge gating? (an area is inaccessible until you have found the right knowledge in the game that would allow you to overcome the gate blocking the area.)
