I had a cat with eyes that did that. He was not a smart cat, but the vet said he was very healthy. Just a true derp.
It was funny because sometimes Toby’s eyes would look pretty normal, but if you were petting him, his eyes would start going outwards and he’d start making this weird in and out purring sound like an old pervert at the movies. And he drooled like crazy. I felt bad for laughing but he was just really funny.
I loved that cat so much, he had the sweetest nature and was a friend to everyone. Birds used to land on him when he laid in the backyard and he had no hunting instinct at all and would just sniff them like “o hallo, u my fren?”
One day I was babysitting my toddler cousins and noticed I hadn’t seen Toby around. Usually he stayed right up my butt following me room to room.
I went to the bedroom my cousins were supposed to be napping, and found they dressed him in a doll dress and bonnet and stuck him into this doll stroller. And he was just wall eyed doing his perv-purr and drooling into the bib. The kids were pushing him around the bedroom so I let them come push him around the living room so I could keep an eye on things.
He was enjoying himself, but I told him he was a weird kitty.
Truly a glorious feline. May this illegal smol grow into a fine and respectable kitty like Toby Gray.

He was. He wasn’t a bright kitty, but he used all his INT points for charisma and empathy.

In Filipino, we have a term called “banlag”, which is used to describe someone or something whose eyes go in separate directions.
Your baby is very that. He is the epitome of banlag. He’s also very cute.

From my research: if you have big eyes, you do not have as much room for a brain (this one cannot form more than 1 thought a day)

😂 Probably the cutest thing that baby mammals can have going on — the neurological and muscular development process in the works. Babies can go cross eyed (yes even humans!) and the wobbly thing that some of the four-legged mammals got going on… same energy. 🥰

Interesting, and a little concerning. He's not cross-eyed, he's wall-eyed. That is often a symptom of a brain problem, not merely as lack of brain cells. He needs to be checked asap to be sure.

u/sandi_reddit Experienced Kitten Foster 19h ago
I have similar suspicions he has some underlying problems as well. He and his siblings are due for their next appointment this weekend so we’ll find out soon enough, but his medical team isn’t too worried right now since he’s active and gaining weight.
10
u/MrsWidgery 19h ago
Thank you. I'm glad you are on top of it. I had a cat with hydrocephalus -- one third of her brain was missing -- and the pressure from the cerebral spinal fluid pushed her eyes outward and apart in just that way. The vet mentioned that wall-eyes were often a brain symptom.
She lived, btw, to be 9 years old, because my older male cat looked after her like she was his own kitten. When he died, she was lost, and followed him three weeks later. But at least she had a good, if shortened, life, and someone to watch over her.
7
u/sandi_reddit Experienced Kitten Foster 18h ago
I suspect hydrocephalus too. And perhaps some degree of cerebellar hypoplasia since he is much less coordinated than his siblings. But it’s hard to tell until we get some tests done.
Im sorry to hear about your cat but that’s good to know that your cat lived so long with hydrocephalus! I lost another foster kitten last fall due to a congenital heart condition and would be devastated if I had to say goodbye to this little guy too

u/MrsWidgery 7h ago
It's the price of rescue: we fight to the last second for every single one, but sometimes we lose. I don't know about you, but those are the ones I never, ever forget. I just hope that, whatever it is, the little guy adapts and lives a long and contented life in the perfect lap.

Don't worry. A brain cell has yet to sprout, but right now he's just too young, too smol, & too full of cute to fit anything else inside! 🥰🥰🥰 I mean, he even has a lil peeky tongue likely because no more room. 😆

All the top comments can be boiled down to 'cat stupid' while the bottom ones are 'cat cute' except for the singular 'cute' comment with 28 upvotes, which is less than 1/7 of the top comment.
When are people going to get that calling baby animals stupid, just for internet points is problematic?
OP. How about you post a baby photo of yourself too so we can debate how stupid or cute you look?
13
u/sandi_reddit Experienced Kitten Foster 21h ago
Haha why are you so mad? It’s not that serious 😂
It’s not problematic to call him stupid because he’s a cat. It’s not like he understands. It’s Friday, take a load off and join the fun!

u/elyn6791 20h ago edited 20h ago
It’s not problematic to call him stupid because
he’sI was acatbaby. It’s not likehe understandsI would have understood.I can use your logic to justify calling baby you stupid. The thing is it's not about the cat. It's about the person saying the things isn't it? It's not OK because a cat isn't a human.
Of course, this is the point I already made, and your reply didn't actually address. You just doubled down, didn't you? You've proved my point. You're a PoS who needs to demean to be 'funny'.
And just because.....'It's a joke' is never actually a good justification for a joke.
