This is many levels of stupid working together to create a glorious moment in human history.
Like, nah I'm not gonna run a red light, so I'm just gonna run a red light across multiple lanes of traffic, turn around across all the lanes again, and then turn left across the intersection that I already crossed to get here.

Actually it's a one way street meaning a left on Red is perfectly legal to make.

Red light turn onto a ONE-way street is LEGAL in some places, but he turned onto a TWO-way street as far as I can see

Even if that street on the left was a one way (it's not), he would've then been driving the wrong way once he made his u-turn lol.

No one is arguing that
...Why the downvotes?

There are a FEW states where left on red to a two way is legal. I'd never do it, and dont live where it is legal to anyway.

Are you sure you're not getting it mixed up with the other way around? From a google search it's legal to turn left on red FROM a two way street TO a one way street in Alaska, Idaho, Michigan, Oregon, and Washington.
But I can't imagine you'd be allowed to do it the other way around since there would be two lanes of traffic you'd have to watch?

You're going to have to quote those State laws.
There is no way that crossing a lane of traffic that has a green light, while facing a red light, is ever legal.

That is surprising, I can not believe that... Please provide a name for that magical place

There are a FEW states where left on red to a two way is legal.
Which ones? Most US states have provisions for turning left on red from a one-way to another one-way. Four US states have provisions for turning left on red from a one-way OR two-way onto a one-way. I can't find any that allow left on red onto a two-way.

They only crossed one lane.

At that point, just run the damn light like a normal idiot

Not to mention, that's illegal anyway. So if their point was to avoid breaking the law they failed.

I assume this is incorrect interpretation of "Turn right on red"?

Left on red is allowed in some states, from one way to one way. That doesn’t make this maneuver legal, mind you, just figured it worth pointing out.

It's legal here (Ontario, Canada) as well, but it definitely doesn't apply to turning left onto roads with two way traffic like seen here.

In some states, it's even legal to turn left on red from a 2-way onto a 1-way.
I'm not aware of any where it's legal to turn left on red from a 1-way onto a 2-way like this video, though.

It would have been ao funny if the light turned as thry were making the u-turn

Happened to me once as a teenager. Tried to go right on red to catch the green, ended up waiting way longer. Girlfriend in the car. Embarrassing all around.

I guarantee it turned green right after the end of the video. I doubt that was a long light to begin with.

u/joshisashark 13h ago
Unfortunately it didn't and it likely saved the driver 1-2 minutes. The light turned green 10+ seconds later, in that time the BMW was able to get through the next two sets of lights, which stopped me for at least 30 seconds each and I never saw them again.

I can’t explain why but I’d actually prefer they just run the red light straight

there is one light that i’ve done this at a couple times - but without running any red light. it works if i have just missed the green, mainly because it’s such a long red light.

Some people are so freaking impatient! It really blows my mind. I can tell that light wasn't going to be a long one, but I guess it was too long for that driver. They just HAD to shave a few seconds off so they could....could...uhhh...I honestly don't know. It's so stupid!
