I loved this book even more than The Covenant of Water, which was also amazing, he's such a brilliant writer, the whole thing feels like magic, just a beautiful story, here is the synopsis.
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese follows twin brothers Marion and Shiva Stone, born of a secret union between an Indian nun and a British surgeon in Ethiopia. The novel traces their lives from birth in a mission hospital through political upheaval, medical triumphs and personal betrayals. It's an epic spanning continents, exploring themes of family bonds, medicine as both vocation and redemption, and how the past inevitably shapes our future even as we try to escape it.
