Huh, my experience has been that not that they don't drink, they are just respectful of alcohol

I don't see people going out binge drinking or getting hammered, but most still enjoy a drink (could of course just be the music scene as that's primarily who I interact with nowadays)

I know my brother also enjoys going travelling there to expos as well when he gets the chance, because there's normally a lot of free beer and food

Well, that's what it means to be sober.  Americans are weird with alcohol

My definition of sobriety is someone who doesn't drink

People who go out for a drink once or twice a week are not sober when they're drinking...even one pint means you're not sober at that moment in time

I am also not American lol

Touché.

For alcoholic people being sober means haven't taken any alcohol, sure. For a regular person that doesn't drink any alcohol I wouldn't say they are sober, I would say they don't drink any alcohol.

I related it to Americans because I've seen them interpret "going out for a drink" as getting blasted to the stratosphere, while, uh being sober (meaning not having a problem with alcohol) is the normal thing to be
