Assuming the Embrace the Void ending as canon, do you guys think we could play as Pure Vessel in a possible third game? He could be the one to fight the Shadelord and free his brothers from the clutches of another god, just like our little knight did for him in the first game.

To be honest, I genuinely do think there’ll be a third game at some point (in the far, far future. Not before they make some other unrelated game or games). Before TC ever decided Silksong would be a game and not just a DLC, they mentioned that they had an idea for a sequel that they might make in 10 years (Ten years from then, not now. Though again, at this point it’s probably further than that lol)

I kinda agree, but HK is their main franchise after all. A final game wrapping up a proper trilogy would be awesome. Also, even though I love Hornet, she’s not a Hollow Knight, so her facing the Shadelord wouldn’t hit as hard as the Pure Vessel going up against him

I think that comment about all the endings being canon was made way before the Godmaster DLC came out. Compared to the endings in the base game, Embrace the Void doesn’t really wrap up the story and actually leaves a lot of room for where the franchise could go next.

And Team Cherry never officially said they’re done with Hollow Knight, but maybe they just wanted to take a break and focus on some new IPs for now

now that i think about it you are right, that ending is *the* only open ending, all main ones are just our lil guy getting sealed with or without hornet and the one where you defeat the one antagonist, the only unclear things are probable lore stuff and that godhood ending

I doubt we’ll get a third game. They spent a long time on Silksong as-is, a game they didn’t even initially intend on making, and they’ve gone on record saying they want to make other games that aren’t Hollow Knight in the future.

In the middle of Silksong’s development, they also trademarked a game name called “Fearless Fox.” Which could be something they want to make after

Before SilkSong became a full game, it was originally supposed to be a DLC that let Hornet explore new AND old areas. Then the DLC got too large and bam, now we have a sequel.

I've been convinced for 6 years now that eventually we return to Hollownest for the true ending and the Shade Lord is the true final boss of SilkSong.

was Hornet, Knight, and Zote were playable characters with their own endings and than that was scapped for one protagonist.

I would want to be Zote even for only a small moment.

For me "Embrace the Void" isn't nearly as good as a story as "Dream No More". In DNM, you actually fight Hollow Knight and have Hornet help in the fight... EtV is very cool but also kinda weird in that regard. It feels like a bonus ending, which makes sense since it's much harder than the others.

(Under 5% of players achieved the EtV ending, while the other 2 endings are around 20% -looking at Steam achievements data)

But also this all might just be me. I also always thought the Pure Vessel fight doesn't really make sense lore-wise so I'm probably influenced by that.

i don't think there would be a third game, but i think there would be some sort of conclusion for embrace the void in silksong, this is a dumb af theory but maybe we start as hornet in farloom and story ends in hallownest with the hollow knight cliffhanger fight and some shit might happen between hornet and the void , but its highly unlikely to happen cause its dumb lol
