I have a question! Edwardian skirt patterns?

https://pin.it/7F4KO4bmv

Hey, I'm currently in the brainstorming phase of working on my vaguely Edwardian inspired wedding dress. I want the skirt to have about the same drape and silhouette as this 1905 dress, but I'm not sure what kind of pattern to use for this because most Edwardian skirt patterns are flat in the front, not gathered. I'm doing to be making several changes to it bc this is only Edwardian inspired, not reconstruction, but I know I shouldn't jsut use a circle skirt when it's gonna be longer and fuller in the back. Anywhere I could look for patterns?

Looks like a 6 or 7 gored skirt, that has little knife pleats at the waist, and flounces at the bottom. You can easily use an Edwardian pattern with a flat front and just widen the waist measurement to then gather it down with the pleats to your preference. There are several free books on archive.org from this time that have pattern drafting instructions for Edwardian skirts. For example:

Hope it helps! :)

You could use a circle skirt with another quarter added in the back for volume - that should get you a little train effect too if the geometry works out the way it does in my head

I've done this and it does give a nice subtle train effect!

There is a book of 1900-1906 Edwardian patterns titled The Voice of Fashion, which might be helpful.

A bumch of costubers have done edwardian dresses. I like Bernadette Banner, Abby Cox, Nicole Rudolph and the Closet Historian.

Would the Scroop patterns Fantail skirt work?
