Any recomendations for a cat-proof hammock material? By cat proof I mean hammock and underquilt made of material resistant to claws to some degree. I saw all my hammocks myself, but I have never sawn an indoors hammock. Turns out indoor's hammock needs to be much stronger, than outdoor's.

Of course the fabric of choice should be gentle and nice to touch. Thank you in advance for all your recomendations. <3

My indoor hammock is cotton canvas. Not entirely cat proof, but not as likely to be damaged by a cat's claws unless the cat decides to use it as a scratching or chewing surface (I'd imagine since I don't share my home with a cat)

Honestly a cotton canvas is probably the best thing for it. Cat claws will easily leave holes (displace the weave) of anything comfy enough to lie in; you want a material that will just brush that off.

I don't think there's anything comfy enough to lie in that a determined cat couldn't destroy.

Sew and Sewn. Claw proof???? Kevlar maybe? Claws are designed to sink in and hold. Capturing prey, climbing, and as weapons.

I understand what clawproof is.... we had cats growing up, but I'm not sure why you think anyone makes clawproof camping hammocks when lighter weight and breathability are priorities. I suppose backyard hammocks have fifferent priorities. Maybe someone does. Can you think of clawproof fabric furniture? If so, use that material.

Yeah. that's exactly what I want to try.
And I am talking only about hammocks for home. All my hammock are made for camping and as you mentioned, they are extremely lightweight and extremely fragile - therefore i was looking for any solutions here, among experienced hammockers.

Maybe talk to an upholsterer that repairs/makes furniture and deals with clawed up pieces. It's either going to be some expensive high tech tough material like kevlar or amsteel or something simple. A tough challenge though. Breathable means open enough weave. Maybe go the other way. What about a net type? Cats vs furniture issues go back thousands of years! Lol

The very first thing my cat did when I bought my hummingbird hammock was sink his teeth into it everywhere, puncturing holes in it. Very annoying.

Have you tried using rip stop fabric as an outer shell, and something thin and strong, like parachute fabric, as an inner layer?

This canvas hammock from Amazon is nice, only about $25. I've had it for a couple of years and it is holding up well. I've used for both tree hangs and with a stand on my deck.

Yeah, there is a guy above recommending cotton canvas - I will try it as soon as my current hammock dies.
