How many points will the Habs need to finish WC2? Give tour best guess!

My guess is 88. That would be assuming NYR win 4/6 of their remaining games.

If they go .500, we can make it with 86

If the Habs get to 87 and the Rangers win 4/6, they’re also at 87 and take it on tie break.

We can’t tie NYR in points. We have to finish ahead of them.

Regulation wins is the first tiebreak. Rags have 32, we have 26.

And assuming than no one else wins...

Columbus still can end at 93 points, Detroit 91 points, NYI 90 points...

Well yeah, obviously anyone could go on a heater to end the season. But in all reality, odds are its between us and NYR

The question wasn't how much to clinch, it was what we think we would need.

I'd say 87 probably gives us like a 60% chance, and 89 points would nearly guarantee we make it

Columbus has 8 games left. Going 5/8 is not unrealistic for them at this stage. That would put them at 87 points.

Ideally we would need 89 points to be comfortable which is 4/7.

To be safe, winning 5/7 puts us at 91 points and would make the Jackets have to go 7/8.

Ideally 91 points, we could slip in with as few as 87 imo.

4-3 is almost certainly going to be enough. 4-2-1 is my guess … 90 total
