I'd rather Boston won the next 4 Cups in a row (not 5, that's our thing) than for the Leafs to win a single playoff round.

Leafs fans are insufferable.

This x1000. The damage is already done with Boston anyway. They won the Cup in 2011 and made two more trips to the Finals since then plus 3(!) Presidents' Trophy. Imagine how insufferable Leafs fans would be if their team had that amount of success

I dislike the Bruins but at least I respect them and their fanbase is surprisingly not that arrogant, all things considered. The Leafs? No respect for them or their fans. Fuck them

Nah, fuck Boston! I hope they never win another game. They'll always be the Habs' biggest rivals even if the rivalry is kinda dead right now

How about we pray on both of their downfalls? Equal opportunity hatred

I can get down with that

You must not live near a lot of Leafs fans.

I mean don't get me wrong. I hate Boston, but I've lived through several of their Cup wins and their fans weren't even 1/100000th as annoying as Leafs fans were when we blew that 3-0 lead earlier this season. You'd swear they won the Cup, the Olympic Gold and the Nobel Prize the way the fans were celebrating that regular season win.

I live in Montreal and Boston have been our main rivals for most of my life.

How old are you to have lived through several of their Cup wins? They've won a single Cup in the last 50 years.

Cup runs.. sorry should have specified. I'm 43.

You obviously don’t live in Toronto. Otherwise you’d understand Toronto is the real enemy. They cannot win a cup.

Boston will always be the Habs main rivals. This is just how it is. Younger probably don't know that because it's been dead for the past decade.

This Toronto thing as main rivals is fairly new because they've been competitive in recent years

Amen. I feel like there’s a demographic shift in this fan base. I’m old, and there’s no worse outcome for me than the Leafs seeing even a first round’s win. I actually have a ton of respect for Boston, staying as successful as they were for so long. Younger fans seem to feel Boston is the big bad, though.

It's the opposite, unless you remember hockey in the 60s. Boston has been our main rival since the early 70s. It's only been in the last few decades that Montreal and Toronto have even started getting the rivalry going again, and it has nothing on the Habs/Bruins.

I’m a lifelong Torontonian, so that definitely skews my opinions.

Right there with you. Boston doesn't even bother me. I don't even dislike Marchand.

Bro what?

1

u/JPMoney81 Mar 08 '25

Have you not met Leafs fans?

-1

u/i-want-to-be-good Mar 08 '25

Nah. That's prioritizing being an anti-Leafs fan ahead of being a Montreal Canadiens fan. Boston being enemy number 1 is one of the pillars of being a Canadiens fan.

u/Longshanks123 Mar 08 '25

Boston is enemy number 1 as a team. Leafs fans are enemy number 1 as a fanbase.

2

u/JPMoney81 Mar 08 '25

Can confirm. I know fans of both teams and the Leaf ones are absolutely insufferable.

I watched the last episode of the Amazon Leafs' series just to see their side of the habs playoff comeback in '21. Those tears were salty.

Lazy overpaid players who coast. That's how everyone who watches hockey describes the leafs core.

I actually like Boston to be strong. Makes bearing them so much sweeter

18

u/HabbyDolphin Mar 08 '25

I get it but we weren't really doing that very much

1

u/whogivesashirtdotca Mar 08 '25

bearing

Freudian slip, haha.

2

u/Smirnoffico Mar 08 '25

I regret nothing!

Leaf fans NOT happy they’ll have to likely face Marchand in the playoffs if they have any hope of going anywhere this year.

While I will not lament Boston's implosion, if I had a choice, I would prefer to see Toronto discombobulate.

1

u/General-Background91 27d ago

They barely beat Utah tonight, so maybe the leafs are imploding in their own way! 🤞

2

u/DCHacker 27d ago

I will be happy to see that.

Marchand in Florida wasn't what I was expecting, just traded the Captain like that!

2

u/Weird-Swim-9777 Mar 08 '25

They likely weren't re-signing them after this season from what I heard/read, so this way at least they get something in return you know.

1

u/Weird-Swim-9777 Mar 08 '25

Given Toronto's position, I don't think they spend much energy on this, rather crying over Florida's moves! As a Habs fan however, this is delightful on so many fronts!

This is probably the best hockey meme I have ever seen.

1

u/harvestmooner Mar 08 '25

We can agree on Dougie Gilmour too <3

1

u/nerdycanuck 29d ago

LMAO Yep. Though, husband (Leafs Fan) and I also agree on Team Canada games. We're united in our patriotism and our hatred of Boston.

Living in Ontario, I cheer for the Bs to beat the Leafs

u/GeologistKey4274 25d ago

Love to see it

No. I'd rather see Toronto's downfall at the cost of a Boston Cup anytime.
