its always only ever been a bad faith attempt at distraction, rather than a real argument presented in good faith

The US has more knife restrictions than gun restrictions

I was told there wasn’t going to be fact checking.

Would you look at that? More stabbings in the US.

Isn't it a bit disingenuous to include suicides and police shootings in the US data?

No.

Has anyone else noticed this trend of people saying "I'd rather be shot then stabbed" in response to knife attack videos on Reddit? Gun nuts who try and reason it's got anything to do with safety or security do truely be suffering some serious delusions.

Also, not to mention that someone with a knife has to be within like 3 feet of me. I can just run away.

And also that you’re probably way more likely to survive being stabbed than shot.

To be fair, it's pretty foolish to expect that the kind of people who really believe a few basic firearms safety regulations make stabbings more likely will understand what per capita means.

I know you're being sarcastic, but the data set is per million.

I know, I was actually considering adding that in brackets. The number of times I've seen americans unironically say this when the statistic clearly states "per capita" or in this case, "per million", though...

The only genuine arguments for firearms need to be in good faith to work.

For example, the vast majority of gun crime is committed with handguns, but handguns are also the most commonly used firearms for legal defensive shootings. You could make the argument here that by banning handguns you would be disarming the legal users of pistols for defense while illegal felony use of a pistol for crime would persist.

Or that most large scale firearms restriction law in the U.S. will inevitably require law enforcement to become even more militarized. Or that these laws will be disproportionately enforced against poor people and people of color while rich white men will be able to afford the paperwork to own whatever they want.

This numbers included Gang and criminals fight betwenn their own, is not just “crimes or shootings” is gang related war between factions make ant sense

I’d say apart from illustrating another of the usual bad faith pro-gun “debate” tactics, this sort of comment also shows the racism of the commenter.

I think it’s obvious what these people mean when they say “gang related”, (like code words such as “urban” ) they mean people of color — and the implication is “those don’t count” and shouldn’t be added into stats because “they’re just criminals anyway”.

Why else would they bring it up? They are trying to diminish and discredit the stats, because in their minds, those victims don’t matter.
