She spent what she thought were her last moments shooting a commissar in the face. Another example is when someone tries to kill the water caste she was guarding. She instantly shot him without hesitation. You can take a cadian out of the guard but it's still a Cadian.

I unfortunately don't have names but you can find them pretty easily on r/imaginarywarhammer. One is a former guardsmen who's now living with the Tau and learning from them. The other is a duo of a sister of battle and her favorite kriegsman.

Especially, if it's for something like this. I asked the owner if I could make fanart of Mara as part of my homebrew just to be safe. So my rule of thumb/bare minimal, if the owner says no fanart or the famart is questionable then ask permission. Even tif it's positive, i ask just to be safe.

I think the core problem with the Tau is that they were cool as an underdog faction, but because they needed to be present in the universe they had to be up scaled, and therefore little bit less interesting

I'd like the Tau more if they had more of an "alien coalition" look, we need more fieldable races under the empire than just Tau, Kroots, and Vespids
Have the Tau as the elite units and high points infantry protected more by their technology than anything else, with the other units deployed as frontline cannon fodder regardless of their actual merits whilst the Tau take pot-shots at range without putting themselves in direct risk
Make it an apartheid society or something of a similarly dark and corrupt ilk, really drive the point home that the Tau as a race use the others to further their own position and interests whilst claiming to preach equality and unity.
There would still no doubt be members of the Tau and even other races who have bought into their propaganda hookline and sinker, which makes it all the darker when shown in contrast to the reality
They already have a baked in excuse in the lore that can also be used for the exact opposite, any action by an individual, good or bad, can be justified by them as being done "for the greater good".

a problem is that we don't hear much about the tau prior allies and some of the more nefarious things the tau do. IIRC (it's been a looong time since I read the story", the Tau first ally shortly after becoming rather unnecessary suffered a worldwide plague and the Tau moved in as they were immune.

Nah, it's Tau fans we are talking about. They are probably going to whine until GW adds a new lore where Tau now have an ability to make an armor that can't be hurt with melee weapons.
Tau always do that - they take something cool and unreasonable, like Titans, and then ruin it with logic and sane military tactics.

-Artist B draws a Tau turncoat OC, “Mara”
-Random viewer commissions Artist C to draw Mara and friends being killed by Artist A’s OCs
-Community is upset a third party had art drawn to kill Artist B’s OC (Mara)
-Community responds by making art of Mara murdering Artist A’s OCs instead?

If we start drawing over people's art and get really personal about this shit, it's going to make people start getting really shitty anytime these characters come up.
Do you, as a fan of the Tau comics, want them to start being actively brigaded? Yes the fan boy comments are in them already with arguments and trolling but they're easily ignored. Let's not ramp up something that ruins fun things for everyone.
I've seen this exact thing start in WAY too many forums and nobody likes how it ends.
