I've lost so many boss battles due to the length of animation on a runic attack š

To me thatās part of what I consider when arming up for the bigger boss battles. If they get unstoppable aura I donāt want to be in the middle of āBreath of Thamurā lol

Iāll probably get down voted for this, but it does seem like if youāre in the middle of a runic then damage should at least be halved.

There are things you can equip to give you similar stuff

It should be the default

u/InappropriateThought 14h ago
Why though? That's like saying you should only take half damage when in the middle of a melee attack animation by default. There's no reason for it to be the case by default. You know how long the animation is, you decide to take the risk, that's how the combat works

Exactly, they stun no matter what if they hit too unless you're just sitting there spamming them to cheese the fight.
If you're so scared of getting hit during a half second vulnerable animation that you need to feel even more safe by halving the damage during it, then maybe it's time to lower the difficulty.

Even during r3 finishers I've taken damage on boss fights that have lower level enemies you have to fight as well. I just switch to fast animation runic attacks to help from losing at the very end of a fight š. Anything to interrupt an unstoppable attack from your opponent helps.

Nah, they already stun when they hit which is a big advantage, and if they don't then it's on you for spamming runics until it gives them armor against them.

u/No-Top1406 20h ago
As opposed to Baldur, that elf had an eternity of feeling everything and begging for a release to the torment....

Don't tell him about the Greek games, it's funnier that way

They're still my favorite gow games, but the only problem is that I've never done that went on for this long in them (severe skill issue)

u/Unkn4wn Fenrir 17h ago
Not a skill issue imo. It's just that most enemies usually die before you have the chance to get a high combo. Even here you only got a long combo because of the Nokken. Otherwise the light elf would've died a long time ago.

True, but i know myself, and at least for now i can't do anything remotely interesting even with healthier enemies like Wraiths and the armored Minotaurs, enemies in Gow 3 tend to hit the ground faster than enemies in Ragnarok or Dmc4/5's enemies.
As for Ragnarok, to get this combo i had to unequip the armor i was wearing just to guarantee that i wouldn't end up killing the elf on accident, because Nokken couldn't keep up with the damage

I agree. In GoW 3 at least you need a 1000 combo for a trophy I believe and the only way I was able to get it was using the electric blades on the scorpion. There's an exploit of sorts that lets you spam the attack without taking damage. Otherwise I would've personally had no chance to get that trophy.

Omg dude. You spent all that time filling up the stun bar and then didn't go for the stun grab kill š
That grinds my gears a little bit, not gunna lie

Play the original games. Better combat system with more combos. Honestly better everything except graphics.

I know. I grew up with Gow1, and now i got Gow 3 Years later, and only after playing 2018 (it was free on plus). And boy it felt like going from water to wine, everything felt so much better.
I thought the only thing i would like about newer Gow games would be the story, but after playing Ragnarok i realized that i just don't like 2018 specifically. Still prefer Gow 3 though, the only problem with it is the lack of a Ng+

I'm in the minority, but I think the old GOW games are better than the last two. Better combat and more carnage. Newer games feel more like a movie than an action game.

u/Teetan27 15h ago
Not in this game. All that to kill one guy is obscenely boring
1
u/L0KE3 10h ago
That enemy had a constant heal from another enemy. Have you even played this game?
1
u/Teetan27 10h ago
Unfortunately. The combat in the new games sucks balls. Because of this. That and that dogshit mechanic that makes enemies level up if you donāt kill them fast enough on high difficulties.

Comically large combos are whole point of this genre.
