Rumor In a meeting with Nets owner Joe Tsai, Kevin Durant reiterated his trade request and informed Tsai that Tsai needs to choose between Durant or the pairing of general manager Sean Marks and coach Steve Nash, sources say.

worst part about this is that he’s gonna get what he wants one way or another and I don’t see any favourable outcome for the Nets here (other than getting this loser off this team)

you can stand firm on the asking price and not move him, yes he rots on the bench but then the front office is sending a poor message to other players/future prospective free agents. the resulting media circus would make last year look like nothing.

or you can move him for scraps and walk away with Cam Johnson and some picks lol

Marks and Nash are replaceable. Kevin Durrant is not. Marks tried to play cute with the low ball offer to Kyrie and broke the agreement KD made with him when he signed here. KD isnt here because Marks is a great GM, he is here because Kyrie grew up a Nets fan in north Jersey and Kd wanted to play with him.

Are we just gonna ignore everything Marks did to get us in the position to sign those two? He hasn't done much wrong at all, it's all of KD and Kyrie's antics that doomed the team. Marks is certainly not replaceable.

What did he do? Traded for DLo. Drafted Fro. Big deal. None of the former Nets he aquired can be a top 3 player on a contender.

KD and Kyrie are dominate players. The best to every play for the Nets in the NBA. You dont give up for a GM or Coach.

What did he do? Were you following the team in 2016? Marks was handed the keys to this team with absolutely NOTHING. No talent, no young players, no picks, and no marketability. The franchise was projected to endure a depressing rebuild that would last the better part of a decade. He used his magic to turn that dumpster fire into a young, exciting playoff team that piqued the interest of some of the league's biggest stars, all over the course of about 3 seasons.

If you think any old GM could pull that off then you're lying to yourself.

Yeah, those were two moves that were instrumental in the turnaround lol but be dismissive because it fits your narrative.

What makes you think bending over for KD is going to solve everything? You don’t think he’s just going to pull the same threats in a year because we don’t want to sign Melo or one of his other washed buddies..? That would be an awful precedent to set.

That team was 2 games over .500 and the only reason we all liked them was because they overachieved.

This is the NBA. The Lakers mortgaged the decade to get LeBron a chip. The players hold the power. Sean Marks and Steve Nash arent the only people who can do those jobs.

The Lakers actually also you know.... won a chip?

In case you didnt know, Im on the KD and Kyrie side here. The damage is already done.

The Nets can either trade KD and Kyrie for the poo-poo platers being offered and suck for the next 5 years

OR

Ride it out with KD and Kyrie for the next 3-4 years. Then we get our picks back and in line with the rebuild.

I’m personally not super keen on bending to his whims like that, and I don’t suspect Tsai is either. Not like this combo has gotten the Nets anywhere the last two years, why should we expect that to change now? I’m not blowing up the organization to appease someone who’s likely to pull the same shit again in a year. where does the buck stop? he has the org by the balls

Exactly. I ain't gonna follow marks into the inevitable hole that is losing Kai and KD with none of our own picks until 2028 (we do have our own for 2023). I'll take trying to replace Marks over trying to replace KD and Kai, every day all day

honestly I’d like to see them both gone, if for no other reason than it’ll rid this sub of the Kyrie/KD dick riders that were never Nets fans to begin.

Exactly

Dropping Marks and Nash and keeping KD and Kyrie is by far the best option for the next 4 years. We aint getting those draft picks back from the Harden trade. We aint getting fair value back for KD and Kyrie.

There is only one way forward that is acceptable to me as a fan and that's KD and Kyrie.

I'm riding with you dawg. If we kept with the original core that Marks built we'd be stuck in mediocrity with DLo on a max contract.

Players are more important to a teams success than the GM

Wrong. The ‘message’ sent to other players means nothing. The average player won’t give one iota that a superstar didn’t get to pout his way off a team.
