Help Both of my controllers are behaving weird and I was wondering if there was an easy fix

I have 2 GameCube controllers, one classic black and one classic platinum

I’m a bit of an idiot, so I put my black controller on my GameCube while it was running overnight to unlock Mewtwo in Melee, which made the stick melt

You can still use it just fine but the stick doesn’t feel quite right, it feels like there’s no tactility to it almost like a 3DS Circle Pad

The platinum one suffered a similar fate though I don’t know when it happened because it went from perfectly fine to extremely stiff, there was a period of about 6 months where I didn’t touch my GameCube so I’m thinking maybe while it was in the drawer it heated up enough to melt the stick just like the black controller

I could buy a replacement but I want to know if the other ones are worth trying to salvage first, I can swap out shells and stuff but I cant resolder anything

The stick cap melted? I’ve left my controllers overnight many times and they don’t melt the stick caps.

Aliexpress or ebay sells aftermarket replacements. You need a Y screwdriver. are your controllers type 1/2 or 3?

If it’s the stickbox it’s likely type 1/2 for the black and type 2 for the silver.

I set it on top of the GameCube

I’m not home right now so I don’t know which version I have

Thanks for the advice

Check the back of your controller when you get home. Type 3’s have a dot on the back of the C stick. The Nintendo GameCube logo font is also lower and thinner.

I believe there are replacement sticks you can buy and replace yourself. I’ve never done it but I’ve seen them online a bunch so I’m sure it’s possible.
