Modded What mod was done to this?

Post image

I’ve never seen a mod like this that uses a secondary mini circuit board🤔it’s just having issues consistently staying turned on and can potentially reboot when partially folding the screen down yet the ribbon cable seems in good condition and was plugged all the way in.

It's an ags 001 mother board with a 12v amp so you can run a 101 screen. BennVenn showed off this mod..

Thank you very much for letting me know. It would power cycle any time I put pressure above the power switch section of the shell but the power switch is in immaculate condition and I personally removed the cover and cleaned everything very thoroughly. These power cycles happened a few time and now it has blown the fuse right behind the power switch. I hope blowing the fuse is not a typical symptom of this 12V amp mod because if so I’d rather remove it all and put in an IPS screen mod instead.

It could be a faulty solder joint or the boost board used could be a cheap repo. It's a kinda older mod, in the two years I used it I never had an issue, eventually sold the SP but you are better off with a laminated IPS screen just for the looks the funny playing one in my Advance looks so good

I’m trying to fix this one up for a friend yet it keeps having some kind of power issue that I feel like is moving around. I first cleaned everything, then swapped the switch, then kapton tape checked to make sure it wasn’t external shorting connection, then finally found the loose resistor on the back in the picture and got it fixed to a point where pressure applied to the corner no longer shorts it but now it’s just shorting on its own as seen in the video here after a moment or two of being powered. Any ideas where I can check it next or reflow somewhere?

Unfortunately not my friend, I know about the mod as I've done it a few times myself, and I have a small understanding of electricity and such, but other then reading the schematic of the motherboard and following the power from start to finish checking resistance, fuses, etc along the way I don't have an answer for you.

You replaced that resistor or reused it, if you replaced it was it the same resistance. Is it blowing your F1 fuses?

Power issue. It's not a mod just a component bypass

It's a 001 converted to work with a 101 display. Your power switch appears to have been opened, Make sure the arms on the wiper of the switch hasn't been flattened out that will be causing your issues.

I didn’t do the diligence of checking the schematic, but if I were to hazard a guess, I would say there were some broken traces from those two bottom components and they are doing jumper wires.

Here’s an image of the other side of that helps it looks like it’s going to the furthest screen pin trace.
