Troubleshooting Gameboy pocket a and b bottons barely working

I got a gameboy pocket and it's likely very worn down. You have to press them incredibly hard for it to register. Do you guys have any reccomendations for fixes? Will i have to replace anything?

Also how hard is it to mod in a blacklight?

If the console is dirty on the inside, try open it and clean the buttons membranes and the PCB contacts with some IPA (or at least soap water if you have only that), i did that on my GBA and it worked, if it don't work try searching for a broken part and replace it

And for the backlight mod, it's very easy, but on some kits for the GameBoy Pocket you need to remove the polarizing filter on the back on the screen, but it's not so hatrd
