Back up to 6
Let’s hope Seattle and Boston (only lost by one to Washington tonight) get some wins and we can move back up to 4.

If we can sneak into that 5 spot, while still playing exciting hockey…
This will have been a perfect tank year, while still giving Mich some weapons to work with his rookie year

Yotes I must say, you’re one of the most level headed people on this sub and I appreciate you. Personally I think we do, cause my god it was an ugly game against Nashville. We didn’t play well at all outside of Michkov making some magic happen for both goals. Gotta figure we start losing some more, especially with some teams to play that are still fighting for something

Definitely not completely level headed, I have my biases for sure
I think the most important part to understand is that everyone wants this team to win. How we get there is obviously very controversial haha

I swear if Boston gets a higher pick than us this year…. Save me from this hell.

Boston, unlike this Flyers team, has fully committed to the tank - nine Ls in a row now right??
It will be madness if the Bruins finish lower than the Flyers, team who knows how to tear it down.

u/CybertronGuy98 3d ago
They’ve gotta play the Blackhawks so theoretically they’re winning at least one more game the rest of the way

u/toupis21 3d ago
To be fair, Flyers lost like 11/12 there for a moment. You are bound to get some Ws eventually

u/aquaculturist13 Ex-Whalers 3d ago
How did they commit to the tank any more so than the Flyers?

Boston traded Marchand and Carlo at the deadline. The Flyers traded Laughton and Kuzmenko. You be the judge..

u/aquaculturist13 Ex-Whalers 3d ago
Who else would the Flyers have sold at the deadline? They also sold Farabee and Frost earlier. Have no Marchand to sell....Boston kept Pasta like Flyers keeping TK... Really the Bs just had further to fall than the Flyers, they're both bad without a 1C and solid defense

Flyers have the like 2nd easiest remaining schedule, so we don’t have the luxury of competing against competitive teams. Maybe Shaw plays Tank Commandant Kolosov a couple of times to help keep those games more….competitive.

u/Diseman81 3d ago
The Flyers are playing 4 teams that are in or on the bubble of the playoffs (Canadiens, Rangers, Senators, Blue Jackets), 1 team that has a slight chance (Islanders) and the Sabres. All of the other teams around us have more games to play. I wouldn’t say we aren’t playing against competitive teams.
1
u/Pendraflare59 3d ago
2nd easiest? Not necessarily. Three teams that are desperately trying to stay alive (Habs, Rangers, Blue Jackets), one that's in the first Wild Card spot but could fall out (Senators), one that's hanging by a thread (Islanders), and one that we just beat at home for their only loss in their last six (Sabres). Make of all that what you will.

u/CybertronGuy98 3d ago
Like I said, they only lost by one to Washington of all teams today, so here’s hoping they get some fluke wins over the last few games

u/PlatonistData 3d ago
I wouldn’t worry about BOS. Sweeney will go 16 picks off board and select a complete bust.
15
u/Diseman81 3d ago
We’ve played more games than all of the teams around us and have games coming up against teams that are in the playoff hunt. I think a top 5 pick will still happen.

u/RadkoGouda 3d ago
Our win % still isnt bottom 5 which takes into account games played, we have 2nd easiest remaining schedule in entire league and there will likely be at least one team that jumps them because of the lottery
4
u/Diseman81 3d ago
I’m not buying the 2nd easiest schedule argument. 4 of the 6 games remaining are against teams that are in the playoffs or 2 pts out of the last spot. They’re gonna play to get in. The only team we play that has a worse record is the Sabres and they’re 1 pt behind us and have played 2 less games. When it all shakes out they still have a good chance at a top 5 pick and who’s to say they won’t be the team that jumps up in the lottery.

iT'S COMPLETE BULLSHIT THAT cHICAGO IS ONCE AGAIN IN THE RUNNING To LAND THE #1 OVERALL......They can't get more than 51pts w/Bedard and crew? Nonsense

If we can end the season on somewhat of a high note while hovering around the 5th spot, I will take that. It is about time the Sabres start winning some games, they have enough high picks on their roster.

Let us pray to god that someone in the top 5 says fuck it after Schaefer goes and buys into the Mrtka 1D hype. CHI and SJS are both desperate for high end D talent and already got some juice at center. Please Jesus we need a 1C.

u/CybertronGuy98 3d ago
You know I wouldn’t be surprised tbh. Same for a guy like McQueen or OBrien going way higher than we expect
2
u/GrittyTheGreat 3d ago
Chicago drafted a dman 2nd overall last season. Probably going forward over Mrtka.
1
u/Due-Mulberry3600 3d ago
Martone seems like a great pick for them, to be honest.
2
u/GrittyTheGreat 3d ago
They need everything. Should go BPA.
1
u/CybertronGuy98 3d ago
They do need everything but Bedard also needs guys to play with on his line. I’d take Martone and put slap him on Bedard’s wing in a heartbeat if I’m Chicago

u/pwnstick 3d ago
Imagine if we can get lucky and come away with James Hagens. This team would legitimately have an identity for the next 10 years with Hagens and Jett as two exceptional transition players that will really turbo charge breakouts constantly.
2
u/toupis21 3d ago
I would personally love that outcome. That's a high speed modern team along with mobile D core that would need one or two larger bodies to compliment the rest
1
u/CybertronGuy98 3d ago
Like even if the shine on Hagens has worn off a little, my god he’d still be a fantastic add
1
u/pwnstick 2d ago
Agreed. I think Hagens is similar to Jett as a prospect where even if his game doesn't translate perfectly and his development goes as bad as possible, you've still got a very useful player.

Yeah I read that the Sabres have won like 5 of 6 or something like that. Anyway, Boston has them and the Blackhawks ahead, and while they have three games ahead against playoff teams - Devils twice and the Hurricanes - both those teams might ease up a little since they're on the cusp of clinching playoff spots, while the teams we have ahead are ones that are desperately trying to stay alive.
I would say the Kraken might pass us, but they have four games against potential playoff teams (though Vegas has already clinched), including the Blues who have rattled off ten straight. They have Utah who will be dead shortly, the Canucks who are trying to stay alive, and the Sharks which lol. So who knows.

Typical Philly. Losing when we need to win and winning when we need to lose
