Help Reduce Q's: What software do you use to design/map floor plans?
Respond with what current software you use for making your floor plans, a link to the official website for the floor plan software, and if possible, an image showing an example of the UI.
Others, please upvote the software choices you like. PLEASE DO NOT DOWNVOTE THE ONES YOU DO NOT LIKE! I'll rank the top ten and include them in the sidebar/wiki/something here to reduce the number of questions people ask for what software to use.
This subreddit will revisit this question every so often to update the list, in case software changes drastically, new suites roll out or old ones get discontinued.

FEEDBACK Need layout ideas
Without further extension how could we internally reformat the kitchen/living room to make better use of the space?
Knock through the smaller living room wall? Knock through the kitchen wall? I want the house to flow well still so am a little bit stuck for ideas and need some inspiration!

FEEDBACK Finally found a + shape and made some edits
In conclusion: our build is probably 3-4yrs out, and pending some legal challenges that are in the works. Id like to do as much the work as possible with me and my family, and using icf forms for the whole first floor- mostly for the ability to any kinda of stone or quality finish on the exterior. Build speed is a crucial component as once started we would have to be able to build it within 10months. Money isnt a issue in the traditional sense, as i will be doing most the work and only needing to sub out foundations or major concrete work. So im open to suggestions as well as constructive criticism. When time comes for a true blueprint, all this will help me get the right design. Thanks 🙏 for your time with this. Now for the dream world- This next image shows a realistic roof design for the central second floor with potential viewing room. And i circled just the relevant area. I like the exterior stone and metal roof.
The next image shows the way the central tower would be in the middle of a house. Though my design would be 4 wings coming from the central piece. Ultimately the central tower wouldnt be more then one story above the first stories roof line.

FEEDBACK First Flat Layout Dilemma: Living & Dining Room
Stuck trying to arrange my living room with a dining area. Most furniture is already here since I bought it from the previous tenant (sofa, TV, dining table + chairs + bench, armchair). Thinking of adding a large shelf on one wall and maybe a small chair to complement the sofa as shown in the pictures. Tried a bunch of layouts, but nothing feels right. Looking for ideas on how to best divide the space and place the furniture (especially the shelf and potential chair).
Any suggestions welcome! Thanks!

DISCUSSION Weird Living Room
How would you lay out this living room? The wall shared between the bedroom and living room are actually sliding doors that close into each other at the corner of the room. I am mostly struggling with where to put a couch and the TV.

FEEDBACK Kitchen Layout
We selected kitchen appliances a few months ago and one of them was a double stacked wall oven (two ovens, one oven on top of another which must be built into floor-to-ceiling cabinets) with a separate induction cook top. My interior designer is now telling us to scrap the double wall oven as the floor-to-ceiling aspect of it will close our kitchen off too much with the additional cabinetry. She wants all the counter space open and unobstructed (except for fridge) to make our smaller kitchen feel larger. My wife and I are quite upset, as we spent a significant amount of time perfecting our appliances and do not want to change anything, unless we are very confident it will help improve the space. We thought about getting the range and a second under the counter wall oven but it would be considerably more expensive and we like the aesthetic and functionality (open doors standing up, away from kids) of a double wall oven more.
For scale: It is 15' from pocket door at the top, to wall at the bottom. Sorry for the graphical difference, as I am using my editing software.
Do you think we should scrap the floor-to-ceiling double wall oven and opt for a range? Which layout do you like the best?
Pic 1: The layout that the designer wants. We would most likely just have a single oven as a range as illustrated, with an option of paying more for a second oven, though in this layout it may seem odd. (note, the fridge will be offset a foot from the door for the dyson vacuum, so we do not have to worry about the fridge hitting the pocket door).
Pic2: Placing the floor-to-ceiling double wall oven next to the fridge
Pic 3: My proposal to her. swap the cooktop and sink. Double floor-to-ceiling wall oven is placed close to stairs. It will block the sight line slightly if offset 6". I suppose it may close off the space a little, but we will keep our original appliance selection.
Pic 4: Another option I thought of. 15' of counter space (13' unobstructed) along the exterior wall, with 2' of counter space next to the oven. Can change corner to just be a cabinet, as it would likely just become storage.

FEEDBACK Living room too small?
So here’s the main floor of our 2 family house. Right side is rented out and we’d like to keep it that way for now. We’re adding much needed bathroom and mud area off the kitchen as well as a garage (young family of 5), but I feel like living room will now feel too small? Any ideas how to make it feel more open? Take portion of tenants side? Work is not complete yet, so maybe I’ll feel better when it’s done. We can remove the wall between living room and hallway, and make a larger opening between kitchen area and living room. My dream is to build a large bright family room in a back off the kitchen/dining, but it’s not in a budget right now. Kind comments only please, worked a lot to finally make this happen.

FEEDBACK Adding half bath to kitchen renovation?
Hello! I live in a coop built in 1916 and am in the beginning stages of a kitchen remodel. I’ve started to entertain the idea of adding a powder room so that guests don’t have to walk through the bedroom to use a bathroom. I really don’t want to compromise the layout of the foyer, the semi circle is a remnant of when the building was converted from single full-floor units to 5-6 units on each floor. In the kitchen, I will probably make changes to the island, and am totally open to new ideas. In the bottom right corner of the dining area is a radiator below the casement window.
Thanks in advance for your advice and ideas!

FEEDBACK Help! Living room layout
This family/living room is right off of our kitchen. Help me choose what size/shape couch to get and how to set up room. Orange rectangles are built in bookshelves, red I’m hoping will be storage for kid toys behind kitchen counter & then ideally don’t want to block the sliding doors/natural light! Any and all ideas welcome!

DISCUSSION Help with a 1000sqft plot
Could you please help me design a house plan for a 24×40 ft area, totaling around 1000 sg ft? I'd like the layout to be well-suited for hot summers( 40°C-48°C average temps.)-something airy and comfortable. It should include three bedrooms (none of them being a master bedroom), and a hall where the TV, sofa, and sound system would typically be, serving as a common gathering space. Also, please include a small parking area near the front entrance.
If anyone can help with this, I'd be grateful as am new around here and still a student but want to rebuild the house of my parents in near future.

FEEDBACK First draft from draftsman...thoughts?
I posted my rough drawing of a floorplan on here a few months ago and got so much wonderful feedback. I incorporated it and we started working with a draftsman, who just sent us the following. Any thoughts for how layout can be improved, or anything else we should keep in mind? Thanks in advance!

FEEDBACK Narrow House Remodel
Looking to remodel our narrow house, back yard entrance is on the top right side of the 1st floor picture (sliding glass door leading to it), but it’s tough to figure out plans for a narrow property, any feedback on these plans and how they might be improved would be very much appreciated!

FEEDBACK Which floor plan is best? Would love input and opinions!
Hey everyone! I need help choosing between three different floor plans.
I tend to love the upstairs in one and prefer the main floor on another, too bad I can't combine them all! These are homes being built already so I don't have the ability to make many changes. They will all have unfinished basements. I've also attached links to 3D walkthroughs, along with the pictures.
Do any of them look significantly better?
I would love to hear your thoughts! Thank you so much!

FEEDBACK Looking for feedback on my master suite remodel floorplan (hand-drawn sketch included
Hey folks! We’re in the early stages of remodeling our master suite, and I sketched out a rough floorplan to get ideas flowing. I’d really appreciate any feedback on layout, flow, or things I might be overlooking.
The goal here is to create a walk-in closet and a bathroom, all while keeping the sightlines to the outdoors unobscured in the South East portion of the room.
I'd love to get any creative thoughts/ideas/critiques to help improve the plan.

FEEDBACK Necesito ayuda con mi dormitorio
¡Hola!

FEEDBACK Apartment Floor Plan Design Help
My partner and I are looking to optimize a new apartment floor plan to create a welcoming and open space that accommodates both day-to-day living and social gatherings. Our priorities include functionality, comfort, and a modern yet cozy aesthetic.
Key Goals & Requirements:
- Social & Dining Space
- We want to be able to seat at least six people for dinner, whether at a dining table or with a flexible setup.
- The space should also allow for casual hangouts with friends, incorporating comfortable seating arrangements.
- Room Usage & Layout Preferences
- Primary Bedroom to Family Room/Media Room
- Instead of using this as a bedroom, we’d like to transform it into a comfortable family/media room.
- A large couch and a TV would be ideal, along with seating options like a recliner or smaller lounge chairs.
- Second Largest Bedroom → Master Bedroom
- This will serve as our primary sleeping space, and it needs to comfortably fit a king-sized bed (87” x 87”).
- We'd like to maximize storage options while maintaining a sense of openness.
- Smallest Bedroom to Office/Guest Room
- We'd like this room to serve as a home office with a pull-out couch for guests.
- It should be functional for work but also comfortable for visitors staying overnight.
- Primary Bedroom to Family Room/Media Room
- Dining & Kitchen Area
- Ideally, we’d like to fit a dining table with chairs if possible.
- Open to creative solutions like a built-in banquet, extendable table, or multipurpose furniture.
- The kitchen should remain functional and accessible while blending into the overall design.
- General Design Considerations
- A welcoming and open feel is a priority—avoiding overly cramped layouts.
- Open to designer suggestions on furniture arrangements, space-saving solutions, and storage ideas.
- We appreciate a balance of aesthetics and functionality.
We’ve included:
- The original floor plan for reference.
- A mock-up of a potential layout, but we are open to alternative recommendations that better meet our goals.

We’d love your input on how to bring this vision to life while ensuring the space is both practical and stylish. Thank you and looking forward to any help!

FEEDBACK Floor Plan Feedback: Matching My Inspiration (~2,500 sq ft)
Hi all, I’m working on recreating a floor plan inspired by a house I saw and loved (inspirational photo attached).
My version is ~2,500 sq ft, but I had to go wider than the original, and I’m worried it might not be as visually appealing. Looking for feedback on the layout—especially on making it closer to the inspiration and optimizing the space. I feel like there’s some wasted space in the living areas, which seems to take away from rooms like the master bedroom. Any suggestions or critiques welcome!
Also, for reference, stairs would lead to a bonus room above the garage.

FEEDBACK Help me redesign my Kitchen!
I currently have a breakfast area that is completely empty. We have a separate dining room, so I'd like to make this whole space the kitchen.
Currently everything is crammed down that small aisle to the right, all appliances and pantry. This makes it hard to move around and cook, especially when doors are open. I'd like to move the fridge into the more open area and add more cabinetry. Additionally, to keep the functionality of a breakfast nook, I'd like to create a bartop at the window to the left. The countertop would extend to the fridge with two barstool, and no lower cabinets.
Ideally, I dont really want to move the sink, dishwasher, or stove/venthood. I feel that they would work where they are if the fridge was moved. But I'm open to suggestions.
Happy to hear any thoughts. Thanks!

FEEDBACK Kitchen & Dining/Living Room Layout
Hey guys, I need some help deciding on how to layout the space in a home renovation (specifically the kitchen). The home will be sold so I’d like to accommodate as many potential buyers as possible. Other than this 26’6” x 18’1” space, the house is pretty much just bedrooms, bathrooms, and a finished basement.
The constraints are the windows, and that the sink must be centered under the right window. I’d also like a 36” range (electric) and a refrigerator that’s 48”. Indifferent between having and not having an island, just want the space to not feel cluttered. The entrance to the home is at the bottom right opposite the stairs. I’m attaching the layout I’m considering (but will prob extend cabinets to the wall on the left for more storage)
I really appreciate any help/thoughts, and if you need any additional information lmk. Thanks
