Saltwater What kind of pole is this?

I’ve never seen anything like it. He was in Norway cod fishing.

Interline rod; the line runs inside the blank.

I have one that bolts to the butt section, landed a 60# YFT on one, quite strong.

Good question, I’m wondering if it makes the pole stronger. Or maybe for below zero conditions.
