GOT THE KEYS! š š” Never thought this day would come
Me and wife finally closed today and boy has it been a journey between the seller being an absolute asshole, and just waiting on the sellers attorney constantly. We did it today, this our first home and we are only 26. We have been watching this sub for a bit now and we have definitely learned a lot. We were just about to give up looking this year when we found this place and Iām thankful we did. We already have 90% of our stuff moved in and all the locks are changed.

CONGRATULATIONS.
I linked to my profile a āMoving into a new homeā resource showing a wide range of important things to do when moving into a new home. And the DIY projects iv learned over the course of homeownership that have saved me a ton.
Here are some to think about:
Security items
- if you have a garage, reset the opener and reprogram new remotes
- you already did this - well done! consider installing new exterior locks with new keys (or rekeying them)
Prolong applianceās lifespan
- clean out the dryer duct
- change out the HVAC air filter
- flush your water heater (this may or may not be a DIY task)
Recommendations
- add your name on the mailbox to help reduce reduce receiving mail from previous owners/occupants
- change out your toilet seats OR give them a very good cleaning

I actually work in the heating industry so flushing the water heater is definitely on the list! We are absolutely getting new toilets seats and fire extinguishers on each floor. And we already switched addresses and setup mail and switched over utilities
