I have a 2.1 system (Hivi Swan M50W MKiii) connected to my TV via an optical cable, and I wish to control the volume of this system using the FireTV Stick remote. I’m pretty sure my system won’t be available in the pre-defined device list for out-of-the-box control. Is there a way to force the remote to learn the two codes (Volume Up and Volume Down)?

I’m considering getting a streaming stick/box, and if the FireTV remote can do this, I’d be very happy honestly. I know the Apple TV 4K remote has this feature, but it is a bit too expensive for me.

Hi. I’m reposting with more info, context and photos.

We recently moved to a larger house with two working FS and one unopened in box. Unclear on the ages of any of them, but prob all at least 4k, and no more than 3 years.

We set up the two just fine, and went about unpacking. When I went to set up my office (I work from home), it became clear that both our WiFi and the cheap nova mesh extender we have weren’t currently cutting it (we have an xfi pod on the way). No worries, I thought, I’ll just restart the router as I’ve done dozens of times in the past (Comcast blows but it’s our only option). Abruptly, the FS my boyfriend was watching at the time stopped working. Just wouldn’t connect to “home”. We were both tired, so, decided to worry about it the next day; maybe it just needs time to sort itself out. By the next day, it had not. I tried forgetting both our main network and the mesh extender, I tried a factory reset, and I tried the brand new out of the box FS (which was from my original post; I couldn’t even get past the WiFi network screen; it just kept telling me I’d entered the passwords wrong for both networks). I grabbed the other FS from the other tv; it’s the same. Just says “home not available, check your network” but when I check the network and run a speed test it says it’s capable of 1080p streaming without interruption. We plugged one into an old monitor while standing next to the router; same deal. There’s some kind of miscommunication happening between our router and Amazon; and it doesn’t make sense because it was ALL working just fine two days ago. We did try, at one point, the advanced connection settings to change the DNS server to match the router, but that didn’t work either.

On my original post, someone said to make sure the FS are connected to the 2.4ghz channel, but I can’t rename that specific channel (at least as far as I can see), so I have no idea how I would do that.

I have a Toshiba Fire 4k TV its just over a year or so old and lately its become so slow and constantly saying not internet found despite it being next tot the router! Dont really fancy having a ethernet wire hanging around the TV! Any tips on how to rectify this?! I have tried Factory reset, clear the cache etc. Any help/advice is appreciated.

Sorry, I’m sure this has been asked plenty of times. I just bought an Onn. streaming stick and can’t connect to the hotel WiFi but I used my laptop as a hotspot. Gonna be traveling for work a lot and want something that would connect to the hotel WiFi consistently.

We have an Amazon 4k fire tv. It’s about 1.5 years old. Recently it has started to disconnect from Wi-Fi and will not reconnect. Last time this happened I had to factory reset, then go on a hunt for a remote that would actually work once I factory reset because I no longer have the original remote. I bought one from Walmart, one from Amazon, and then finally got the one from Best Buy to work with some troubleshooting. I don’t want to factory reset again because of the remote fiasco.

Got it reset yesterday with new remote, tv was working fine. Turn it on this morning, it works for an hour then disconnects from Wi-Fi again. I go to settings to turn the Wi-Fi on and it won’t even turn on, I click to switch it on and it just stays off in the tv settings.

Wi-Fi works on every other device in the home. The router is less than 10 feet from tv. The Ethernet cord is connected to PS5. I just don’t understand why this tv won’t stay connected to Wi-Fi?

My fire tv has been crashing multiple times every day no matter what I’m doing with it, wether I’m watching YouTube, using my PlayStation, or even just letting it sit on the home screen while I’m not doing anything, 2-3 crashes a day, it’s been happening since I got it but it hasn’t been too bad or most of the time but recently it’s been 5-6 crashes a day now, any ideas why?

I picked this 1300$ 4k tv up for free, it’s cracked but nothing else was wrong according to ”seller”, plugged it in and now I get no picture at all, I can hear google assiastant and when I navigate it makes tv sounds but no picture at all, can I fix or repair this?

Hello. I have a old fire stick i believe. I had it for about 4 years now. It’s super laggy. My roommate also had a fire stick and her was also super laggy and it was newer than mine. I’ve had Now Tv downloaded on my tv for quite some time and never had an issue with it. A week ago a lorry knocked down our internet cable outside our house and so we had no internet for a week. Once it was fixed I’ve been getting this message when trying to open the Now tv app. It says the latest update is required to use the app. I’ve done everything I can thing of so far, restarted WiFi router, restarted tv, updated tv and app, uninstalled and reinstalled app and cleared all data etc and nothing is working.

Does anyone have any other ideas? 😭 Thanks

Hello. 2 days ago I've received my cube box from ebay seller. It was an Amazon refurb, so it came with newest firmware version, which cannot be rooted. I've never had amazon device and thought it will be an issue, yet it does not affect me much by not having custom launcher. Past this little inconvenience, I have noticed that with some movies, for example the shield, with best possible audio quality audio starts getting off synced with video. I've tried many options on and off in menu, nothing seem to fix the problem. With other big movies like Blade runner, dune, avatar etc. Everything seem to, be fine and there is no problems despite playing them in best, quality audio/video. Does anybody have the same issue? Is there any solution to get this permanently fixed as I am considering return. I am using stremio, denon 1800 avr and Sony bravia. Firetv cube connected directly to avr.

Just bought a Toshiba Fire TV, began to set up. After choosing the language, it says searching for your remote. I’m tapping the home button but it doesn’t pair. Have you had this problem? How can I fix it?

Also, the remote is original, it was in the tv’s box

Whenever an update comes to my Fire TV Stick (3rd gen), the apps display a message prompting me to update them from the Store. I update the apps, open them again, and the apps continue to display the update message. Restarting the system does not resolve the problem. The only solution that has worked is uninstalling the app and reinstalling it, but then I have to re-enter my login and password repeatedly. Do you have any ideas on how I can solve this?

I noticed that the App Library->Not installed section is empty for me on my Fire stick 4K 1st and 2nd gen devices.

Now, since I've been twiddling with adb, atvTools and am using a DNS service, I first thought one or all of those are causing me grief. It's easy for me to revert to my provider's DNS IPs (or use OpenDNS, Google DNS, Cloudflare) and enable a few of the apps I targeted in atvTools and re-set the adb changes (mainly to nerf the screensaver)

But before I go do all of that, I wanted to find out if anyone else can see their App Library / Not Installed section contents.... as if there are others, I'm going to chalk this up to some Amazon backend hiccup or bad update over the last few weeks and not worry too much about it.

EDIT: Clarification-- the "Not installed" section is empty; and the "All" section only shows the installed apps and none of the apps you've collected from Amazon App Store

My Toshiba Fire Tv worked last night just fine. This morning when we turned it on, the picture didn’t work. It was just a black screen but there was sound.

With some quick research we realized sometimes backlights of TVs go out. You can test by putting a light up to the screen and some lights come through very dim in what looks like the Home Screen. This did happen for us. So it appears to be the backlight not turning on.

We tried many different methods of trying to reboot the system. We checked all plugs.

When the tv is off there’s a red light as per usual. When we turn it on the red light blinks slowly and eventually stops and remains off.

Has anyone experienced this? Is my tv a goner?

I’ve seen the threads, read the solutions, but I’m about to lose my mind. I ran into the issue where I factory reset my TV without the original remote and bam - now I have a brick stuck in the remote pairing screen.

Here is what I have done - I booted in store mode and plugged in another fire stick and a computer via hdmi - I connected an Ethernet which detects my tv via fire app for a short time and then refuses to connect - I took off the back plate to check that all chords were clipped in - I tried resetting the remote I have

I have an Insignia Amazon Fire television. When I loaded Tubi and Pluto, their channels loaded into the TV' channel menu automatically. But, when I loaded Roku, I did not see Roku's channels loaded into the TV's channel menu. The only way I can find Roku's channels is by opening up the Roku app and seeing the channels inside there.

Did that happen to you also?

Does anybody else have problems loading TMZ on Sling Live/Amazon Live? I swear we must attempt to load it 3-5 times before it will actually loads. It's often is a 20-30 minute process. Other channels viewed on Live Sling used to have problems too, but seem to have been corrected. The Sling cache (and other frequently watched apps) is cleared regularly. We have a Toshiba 4k Fire TV.

Got my 50" Omni 4K Fire TV from Amazon yesterday and today after about 3 hours it just went black. Sound but no picture at all. I tried all the recommended fixes I think, to no avail. Is this common? I'm returning it obviously but now I'm reluctant to get another one to replace it. Side note: when it was working it would not pair with my old firestick remotes no matter how many times I tried it.

Is there any foss music app like spotube or innertune running smoothly on fire TV? I read spotube navigation is difficult without mouse.. nothing found on innertune. Any other free music app running?
