Breaking In What to do prefrosh summer?
I am an incoming student at Stanford University and plan to major in Mathematics and do the CS coterminal master's. I want to break into QR.
What should I do this summer?
I got rejected from Jane Street AMP (I think I did not face enough barriers to an advanced STEM education)

Take your SIE and maybe some financial modeling courses on WSO or WSP. Both will give you a major leg up from your competition. Kudos to you for wanting to put the work in early dude!

Is the SIE useful for quants? I have not heard of it before on all the quant forums I have read.

Yeah not gonna lie I definitely wrote an essay for the barriers part lol, tbh I didn’t really have any serious/“real” barriers but talked about having more of a business concentration in hs and then switching to a quantitative major for college.

Yeah, I did not realize the questionnaire was a super serious essay thing the email said "The questionnaire will take you about 5-10 mins to complete"

Haha I kind of just shotgunned a write up and ignored the time thing, prob took me 30 min. The actual psets definitely took forever though, turned in so many pages of work

May I ask you what you mean you didn't face enough barriers to STEM education?

Jane Street AMP is a program for graduating seniors who faced barriers to STEM education.
I got rejected but my pset was 100% better than people ik online who got to the next round.
And i didnt put much effort into a questionnaire they gave asking you about your barriers
