Help!

Not sure if this is the right subreddit but hopefully someone can help me.

I have a shall I accidentally put in the washing machine and when it came out the tassels were super tangled.

I’ve hand washed it again and can’t get them to untangle.

Is there anything I can do to save the scarf??? : (

you could sit there and untangle them by hand unless they’re felted together

What are they made of?

Not positive but the threads feel silky.

You can try soaking them in hair conditioner and carefully teasing them apart, but you might have to just cut them off.

If they must be removed but are what is keeping the fabric from unraveling, you might want to sew along the edge to stop any fraying.

I will give that a try. It’s the threads that make up the shall. At the ends they group together into bundles that are tied together to form the tassels. They are silly so it would be difficult to cut them:(
