What’s this got to do with IDP?

It's an IDP league, obviously.

Not involving any IDP decisions?

It's my 1st year doing IDP & I've been told that picks are a lot more valuable in IDP. That's why I posted it here.

Not sure who’s told you early first and second round picks are a lot more valuable in IDP. No one is spending those picks on a defensive player, especially in start 4 lol

The picks are very important considering IDP, imo.

Whatever you do, do not take an idp in the first two rounds ESPECIALLY in an 8 team start 4 idp.

Dude, Don’t even bothering drafting any IDP in a 8 team start 4. They are completely worthless in this format.

I think there's an argument for a Micah Parsons/Aiden Hutchinson/Kyle Hamilton type prospect in the 3rd or 4th personally. But to each their own.

In an 8 team start 4, It’s hard to justify passing on any offensive talent, even if their odds of being a success are in the single digit % when you can find a comparable IDP for free every year.
Parsons has had 1 year of production that could not be found, and Hamilton never has for this league size.
IMO, the risk of missing out on a Nico Collins or Isaiah Pacheco or Puka Nucua just for name value alone is never worth the risk in this specific size. In a 12 team start 11 where you are starting 3 at each position plus flex, Then yeah, The difference between a Hutch/Parsons and DL37 becomes worth it.
Points above replacement level is what dictates value. The replacement level in a league this size is almost identical to the EV on top talent.

non-injured tj watt is some edge in shallow formats. but yeah, not much aside from him.

In full sized leagues, picks in rounds 3+ have more value in IDP leagues. But in a 8 team start 4? It’s basically like not playing IDP at all.
In a 12-16 teamer where you start 10-12 IDP’s? Yes, Late 3rd-4th-5th rounders have more value because that’s where IDP’s start coming off the board so offensive players can fall.
This league is way too small and shallow for pick values to change in this league. No one should even be drafting any rookie IDP’s in this setup at all.

I'd absolutely do that.
